I'm thinking "short term very nice, long term could be bad but we'll see."

Laviolette is a second-rate d-bag. Folks can decide for themselves whether that's better or worse than a first-rate one.

I liken the Preds, so I hope this works. He's a good coach, but I dislike him.

In actual Around Hockey news...

Dorse being Dorse.

You guys talking about the trip or Kunitz bump? I'm pretty sure its the Kunitz thing which was weak as hell. Reminded me of the Foligno call on Jokinen in that it should never be called at all in that situation. Reminded me of Wiz on Clutterbuck as Kunitz saw him coming, acts like he doesn't, then hurls himself into the boards and acts shaken up after a 5mph bump. Complete dive that should've been the only call. They seem to never get called though and that's why these guys continue to do it.

1 thing I've learned from these playoffs that I've never realized before is how much I hate the way Kunitz plays hockey. Its a disgrace really. 1st guy to get his stick up around a guys head or anywhere else, and 1st to act "roughed up" in the smallest of scrums. It's crazy and ridiculous that professional refs can't realize when guys are falling down so easy.

Idk if it was ever talked about. Game 3? 4? The game JJ and Kunitz collided face to helmet. Later in the game, Wiz stepped up on Kunitz around the same spot and instead of taking the hit(that was about as "violent" as the Clutterbuck incident) Kunitz just brought his stick up w a 2-handed crosscheck right across Wisniewski's head. Wiz was clearly shaken up right after. Clear 2min penalty. Should have done what Kunitz would have and shot down to the ice. Instead no call.

Far be it from me to play peacemaker since that's a really unfamiliar role, but can we set aside the Gaborik debate? There are so many different aspects of it, as well as his play here and elsewhere, that it's unlikely that anyone will budge an inch on it.

If previous trades have been looked at on a single axis (hate it, love it, everywhere in between), Gaborik's operates on more by adding in the re-signing risk in addition to what it meant to a team in the stretch drive toward the playoffs.

Even I can recognize when there's no hope of reconciliation in a debate.;)

Every time I watch how inept the Rangers are, I get more and more pissed off about the Gaborik trade. It shouldn't die yet.

Rick Nash leads the NHL in postseason shots. 0 goals. Flubs a 3 on 1, and a 2 on 1. Then his turnover causes a breakaway goal against.

My God, at least we gave the Penguins a series. This is by far the worst series of these playoffs. Rangers aren't worth crap.

I still think we were far and away the second best team in the division, the Philly series and this series does nothing to change my mind on that matter. I laugh when NYR fans were begging for Columbus in the next round because we would probably wipe the floor with that midget team worse than what Pitt is doing. NYR are soft, much softer than Pittsburgh and much less talent. God I would have loved for us to get a shot at the Rangers.

Nash on being booed: "It's tough. But I understand where they're coming from." #NYR

Wonder if Nash will take an ad out in the New York paper to express his sorrow.

:)

too expensive.

The Rangers are making the Jackets look good (which we are, so not that we need it).

Actually, my feeling is I'd prefer the Rags to win. My disdain for Nash isn't as big as my hatred for the Pens. I also kinda think all Jackets fans should hate the Pens enough to want them to lose to whomever. The rivalry with Pitt is greater than a rivalry with NYR due to geography (and **** Crosby) and any true rival would wish only ill on the object of their ire.

You wonder if Rick regrets asking out of Columbus and going to a place like New York. I know he was excited to play for an original 6 team in front of a full house every night, but wow, things are really bad there. Can't quite imagine Porty going after Rick with the same venom as the NY papers. I don't know him personally, but he seems like a nice guy, and Columbus was probably the perfect place for someone with his personality. Oh well, no looking back now.

Replace "good" with "even better" and the sentence can stand as is. ;)

I disagree. Speaking as a Buckeye fan, for example, I like seeing Michigan do well. It just makes it all the more satisfying when we crush them utterly.

I used to be one of the biggest Nash fanboys around........................but I have happily eaten crow since last year. The game against the Rags here this year where he showed his arse; combined with his AWESOME showing in this year's playoffs really opened my eyes. He is uber soft and the ultimate floater. Don't miss him at all & relish our team thumping his weak game on a regular basis in the future.

The Rangers could be Skating

Hagelin -- Richards -- Gaborik
Kreider -- Stepan -- Callahan
Dubinsky -- Anisimov -- Zuccarello

as their Top 9.[/QUOTE

they sure would be faster...and we would be without Frattin
