I mean at this point Trotz should fire Brunette and then fire himself. There simply is no excuse to have a Dman you coach wouldn't play to be seeing the ice time and numbers he is and then another guy he wouldn't play score goals in 2 of his first 3 games with another team.

How Trotz hasn't snatched him a new one yet is beyond me.
My pipe dream is ownership "promoting" Trotz from GM to Head Coach and hiring a new GM.

Yeah, that's what I mean. I'm not sure Trotz would do things much differently than the current coach. As far as personnel decisions go anyway.
Well, my point is, that it's really not a young developing team. There are a ton of vets. I actually think he'd be a great coach with them. Though, he'd likely need a better defense first...

Trotz might be a better coach for the vets (possibly putting them in a better more appropriate system) but there isn't enough talent on the team if you don't utilize the kids.

He's already lost a middle 6 scoring winger and a top pairing RHD from the start of the year so the NHL ready depth is wearing thin.

Yeah, Trotz could rein in some of the crazy antics and play a more disciplined/defensive style. Which I imagine actually would translate into some more wins.

But I don't think it would change anything at all wrt using the kids or developing them for a brighter future. :dunno:

With trotz as coach, at best, this team once again becomes a "100 point" team. That's not good enough at this stage of the game.

If someone came in and used the kids they may have a fighting chance to get to the playoffs or they might fail miserably but at least you'd have quantifiable evidence of the kids' abilities.

He has coached and had success with young prospects before. I mean, he's coached every player drafted on the Preds after '98 for well over a decade. With the Caps, he coached a young Burakovsky and Kuznetsov. I'd think he'd be fine with a mix of young and old.

This is a hypothetical that isn't going to happen so there isn't much point in discussing it. I will say that my memory of Trotz developing young talent and yours probably don't align.
