No!
I still can't believe they did an 8 yr contract on Saros. I could have lived with 6 yrs, he probably has 4 near peak years. The last 4 on that contract, ouch.
Too muchApparently, Columbus hasn't gotten the offers they want for a one-for-one deal for Jiricek so they're now listening on packages as well.
Fortunately, we could be strong in that category. I also wonder if they'd be interested in Chrona as their goalie pipeline seems pretty bare.
Kemell/Evangelista
Better of the 1sts of VGK/TBL
Chrona
Maybe a Nyquist or Sissons as well?
Saros might be good for the first 4 years of that deal. You better have someone ready to transition by year 5 which means you need a couple of prospects working up now.We have Saros until pretty much the whole society has collapsed so I think we'd be fine.
On the bright side he'll probably be a more effective 5v5 player those last 4 than Stamkos currently is.I still can't believe they did an 8 yr contract on Saros. I could have lived with 6 yrs, he probably has 4 near peak years. The last 4 on that contract, ouch.
I think the 8 years was inevitable. Just how it works with core players these days. That's a major reason a lot of us didn't want him re-signed at all.I still can't believe they did an 8 yr contract on Saros. I could have lived with 6 yrs, he probably has 4 near peak years. Apparently, traded for some guy from Chicago.

Priorities…AHL depth. Gotta backfill the roster decimation that’s happening down there
Trotz purposely did most of the decimating of the NHL rosterPriorities…
Oh yeah - i was being sarcasticTrotz purposely did most of the decimating of the NHL roster
I’d take a frost for Novak trade in a heartbeat. How would the group feel about a change-of-scenery Frost for Novak swap? I think they're similar players and both struggling a bit this season. Frost is RFA at the end of the season, probably similar 2nd line center upside as Novak, though is a bit younger. Philly might like a little sweetener
YES. One hundred percent. You joke but I think that would be absolutely fantastic for this franchise. How about a Torts for Bruno swap? I might like that better.
Who said I was joking? Philly has been a tire fire of a franchise for a long time, they need a tire fire of a coach to go along with it.YES. One hundred percent. You joke but I think that would be absolutely fantastic for this franchise.
Sign me up. Doubt Novak is a guy Philly would target, though, even with a sweetener. How would the group feel about a change-of-scenery Frost for Novak swap? Once again we're doing a fantastic job of tanking any value Novak might have had. Nobody wants a light offense-only forward making $3.5M who has 4 pts on the season. In his past incarnations when he was scoring above 0.5ppg with a bargain contract, folks would have been all over him. Now he has 3 years at good money and the worst team in the league can't even get points out of him. Philly isn't going to want him, nobody is going to want him. Not even for a 4th round pick in 2027.Sign me up. Doubt Novak is a guy Philly would target, though, even with a sweetener.

Like I said, I'm not sold its exactly the same system. As I said before, outside of Josi, I don't recall the Dmen making a point to be this involved offensively. They would take shots, and they would pinch, but it was alot more like what you see from most teams. It is pretty wild that when you look at the roster this season the only people playing well are Saros and Forsberg (although even he’s having a relatively down year). I really don’t even understand who guys who succeeded in the same system last year have regressed so much.
