I figured this type of a thread would be in order since we've been talked about several times as being active in the trade market.

To get the conversation going: David Jiricek seems to be on the outs in Columbus. Hypotethically speaking, would you trade L'Heureux for him straight up?

Single word, no. Multiple words, not a chance in hell. ZLH is the exact type of player we need to be keeping and developing. He should round into a nasty middle six player who can play in all situations.

I'd probably move one of Wood, Svechkov, or Edstrom for him

I would too, but I don't think CBJ is looking for just prospects anymore. Not like ZLH is some seasoned veteran but he has some NHL games under his belt already and looks very promising early on.

L'Heureux no. There are a couple others i would. Pretty much any forward prospect not named L'Heureux, Svechkov, Surin, and maybe Edstrom.

I would definitely be interested in acquiring Jiricek.

Just... I mean, he's not cracking that Columbus lineup. And I love Fabbro for what he is, but it sounds like that was not exactly a tough team to crack on RD, all things considered? Maybe they are being overly harsh/conservative in bringing Jiricek along, I guess you have to watch the player play, and I have not done that at all. So I don't profess to know what's up there. But in general, just on draft pedigree and stats watching, I'd really be interested in Jiricek if he's on his way out in Columbus.

That said, no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks for L'Heureux. We KNOW L'Heureux is a player. Maybe Jiricek will be, maybe not. We need to hold onto any sure bets we have coming.

Don't move anyone that possibly projects to be a center in the NHL.
Yeah, so we're kind of narrowing down to Kemell or Wood?

I also wouldn't move Molendyk for him, which some people around the league would say is insane, considering where the two D in question were picked and our need for RHD. But I think we're in a Good Place with Molendyk right now?

So don't move Svechkov, Surin, or Edstrom as our center ice prayers, don't move Molendyk... that does narrow it down to Kemell or Wood, right? :dunno:

I still don't know enough about how Jiricek is looking to be able to make that call. But I think those are the two players we should zero-in on. :dunno:

II agree about projected centers. I’d also add that I would definitely consider Novak or McCarron as part of a deal though. Sissons would also be a definite maybe as part of a package. Those three aren’t projected centers but are easily replaceable centers.

...y'all did this just to get to me, right? It's okay, y'all can safely admit it. ;)

I don't think ZLH has shown enough offensive upside to be attractive to the Jackets in a trade for Jiricek straight up - and Nashville shouldn't be moving him because, well, other folks have already described why.

Likewise on some of the other comments, center depth up here is... well, let me put it this way. The youngsters being offered have to compete with all of Fantilli, Lindstrom, Sillinger, and Voronkov, and a few others that wouldn't be well known yet but are getting attention in the CBJ world like LDBB. And vets would have to compete with the likes of Monahan and Jenner and to a lesser extent Kuraly. The Preds' personnel on offer aren't substantially better enough to make it work.

The Jackets' biggest deficiencies right now are at current offense-generating forward (particularly after losing Johnny (z''l), tho Kent Johnson was looking really good before the injury and he'll potentially be back this coming week) and in net now and for the future (altho that's made oodles more complicated by Elvis' contract). Given that Nashville has arguably an even greater need for offense generation than the Jackets and has already traded away Askarov, I'm not sure how those could be met - I can say upfront, tho, that the appetite for another Large Goalie Contract here is more or less nonexistent.

If Jiricek does have to be moved, for selfish reasons I would certainly prefer Nashville, but I'm not sure how to make it work in a fair and equitable way. (Similarly, some part of me would like to send Provorov over to see if he can play alongside Josi the same Surprisingly Effective way he's been playing alongside Werenski, but we're trying to get a 1st for him and I don't want to do that to my other team...)

Would Columbus do something around Jiricek+ for Saros if the bottom really falls out of this team?
There's Jackets fans who would probably be okay with that, particularly if the + was Merzlikins. I'm uncertain, myself. I could see it working and I could also see it being disastrous for both sides.

Please no. I think Evangelista is a 60+ point player if he actually gets on a team with a decent coach.
So you're objecting on the basis of Evason being a bad coach for Evangelista?

I mean, he hasn't been bad at all for Fabbro. I know we have our history with him, but I'd be willing to give him a chance. He might not be as bad for Evangelista as you think.
