I figured this type of a thread would be in order since we've been talked about several times as being active in the trade market.
To get the conversation going: David Jiricek seems to be on the outs in Columbus. Hypotethically speaking, would you trade L'Heureux for him straight up?
...y'all did this just to get to me, right? It's okay, y'all can safely admit it.
I don't think ZLH has shown enough offensive upside to be attractive to the Jackets in a trade for Jiricek straight up - and Nashville shouldn't be moving him because, well, other folks have already described why.
Likewise on some of the other comments, center depth up here is... well, let me put it this way. The youngsters being offered have to compete with all of Fantilli, Lindstrom, Sillinger, and Voronkov, and a few others that wouldn't be well known yet but are getting attention in the CBJ world like LDBB. And vets would have to compete with the likes of Monahan and Jenner and to a lesser extent Kuraly. The Preds' personnel on offer aren't substantially better enough to make it work.
The Jackets' biggest deficiencies right now are at offense-generating forward (particularly after losing Johnny (z''l), tho Kent Johnson was looking
really good before the injury and he'll potentially be back this coming week) and in net now and for the future (altho that's made oodles more complicated by Elvis' contract). Given that Nashville has arguably an even greater need for offense generation than the Jackets and has already traded away Askarov, I'm not sure how those could be met - I can say upfront, tho, that the appetite for another Large Goalie Contract here is more or less nonexistent.
If Jiricek does have to be moved for selfish reasons I would certainly prefer Nashville, but I'm not sure how to make it work in a fair and equitable way.
