Perhaps as a coach but as a GM that certainly seems to be his business.I’m not in the business of not winning

THIS.I look at the Dubois trade where he was given for virtually free after a subpar season or 40 points and Cozens now almost 1.5 seasons deep into a mid 40 point pace and ask why should we have to pay much more then that? I understand there are differences in age and Cozen's caphit is better but that contract is also longer and Cozen's doesnt have the track record of being a 60+ point performer. Dubois 3 seasons of 60+ points and 28ish goals vs Cozens 1 season of 60+ points and 31 goals.
Couple in Kakko getting traded for next to nothing. Draft pedigree be damned. Dollar for dollar Kakkos contract is much better even though he hasnt hit the high that Cozen's has hit. He also doesnt have the commitment so you can just walk away no harm no foul. Cozen's doesnt rebound and it is a buyout
Not me, but I'm valuing Cozens way lower than most on the board, so there's that. With everybody apparently disappointed in Wood, would you be ok with some combination of Wood, Novak and Parssinen along with picks for Cozens?
From my understanding Buffalo is trying to squeeze one more asset out of Nashville before the deadline.I'll believe it when I see it happen.
Im just viewing those assets as not valuable to our current leadershipNot me, but I'm valuing Cozens way lower than most on the board, so there's that.
Noting that contract, I wouldn't deal any of our top-10 prospects, underperforming or otherwise.
Fine... they can have del gaizo but we get ByramFrom my understanding Buffalo is trying to squeeze one more asset out of Nashville before the deadline.
Tell them to take a hike. If you are letting an 0-10 streak team squeeze you on a guy who has those stats on a $7M+ contract. Uh... find another job. From my understanding Buffalo is trying to squeeze one more asset out of Nashville before the deadline.
I don’t think Trotz is very good at this GM thing, tbh. Desperate GM’s don’t tend to do the best deals…
But we can still make the playoffs! We havent been mathematically eliminated yet!barry, I swear to G-d, if you pull a desperation maneuver, I don't care if you don't have a neck I WILL find some way to wring it!
I CAN AND WILL STAB THINGSBut we can still make the playoffs! We havent been mathematically eliminated yet!
Well, if that was the case, there'd be like 3 players on the team.Im just viewing those assets as not valuable to our current leadership
Have your stabbing spoon readyI CAN AND WILL STAB THINGS

It's Pagnotta. Doubt he has anything more than what we've already seen.Oh lordy...Pagnotta hinting that something is happening in Buffalo
Just putting the source here for future reference, because I nearly reposted this otherwise:It’s now a “reset.” Everyone got that? RESET:
“It’s not a rebuild,” Preds general manager Barry Trotz told The Athletic on Thursday. “I’m not in the business of not winning. I’m in the business of trying to win. We’re not selling off. We are resetting. We know where we are. It’s not where we thought we would be.
“But we want to move forward.”
The Nashville Predators are not going into a full teardown.
Yes, they made yet another trade Wednesday night, this time sending 28-year-old defenseman Alexandre Carrier to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for 23-year-old defenseman Justin Barron. But this is no firesale. The Preds are realistic about their dim chances this year, of course, which is why they have peeled off a few pieces so far this season. But the idea is to put themselves in a position to bounce right back next year.

Still, a little more:
It's a butt isnt itI'm starting to see the picture Trotz has been trying to paint...if he can make it work is another story.
Both Wedgewood and Carrier were known quantities who Trotz signed to multi-year deals just to trade them away 30 games in. The words and deeds don't align now. He talks about vision ... but the players HE signed are the ones he is moving out.Well to be fair... wedgewood and Carrier did play like buns and Annunen is a nice goalie option going forward since we traded Askarov. So those are nice resets.
Not playing Tomasino or Fabbro though was dumb.
Im hoping we continue to reset our way away from Nyquist, Lauzon, and Bruno
Can you explain it?I'm starting to see the picture Trotz has been trying to paint...if he can make it work is another story.
Well share it with the class!I'm starting to see the picture Trotz has been trying to paint...if he can make it work is another story.
