She has this look on her face like she was watching paw patrol while doing all of that. I don't know what she is actually looking at, but IMO if she really is just watching some kid show, it makes it seem more impressive.
That is the exact look my nephews get watching some kid show :laugh:

Calgary
Gaudreau article as published in the Athletic today...

Even as far out as his next contract negotiation may seem, has Gaudreau given any thought to digging in for the long haul; and maybe ending up as a Flame for life?

That’d be awesome,” Gaudreau answered. “Yeah, hopefully. There’s a good relationship going on between Brad (Treliving, the Flames GM) and my agent (Lewis Gross). I love playing here in Calgary. It’s like a second home to me. I love playing with Gio (Mark) Giordano and Monny (Monahan). If I could keep playing with them for the rest of my career, I would, so … yeah, it’s probably a really good possibility.”

Johnny Gaudreau feels at home in Calgary and winning may be...

So much for all those posters saying that Gaudreau will be on the next plane to Jersey once his contract expires.

Gaudreau was on a Philadelphia radio station a year ago, he also said it would be great to play near his home and family and friends. These are rehearsed answers, he’s not going to say “yeah I haven’t considered it”. Nothing has come publicly out of his mouth that would give a tell one way or the other.

For me, he’s a huge deal in the US and I think he would love a chance to play closer to home near his family. But we will see, Tre is his ***** because he is giving his brother 700k just to be a nice guy.

Knowing Treliving, he started chumming up years ago with the parents to use them as leverage against Johnny for an extension.

"Your mommy says stay close to your brother and take care of him. Guy says the AAV I offered is reasonable and the entire family would be set for like multiple time over even with the 1-2 Mil lower AAV."

Jesus Christ I keep thinking that when people post here that we are close to signing Tkachuk. Ffs the anticipation is killing me folks!

Why are you looking here instead of the Tkachuk thread?

Pretty sure when he signs he will get his own thread. After all, this thread is for armchair GMing, not real GMing.

Not sure if this has been posted.. but if it has... sorry for the duplicate posting.

Rumor: Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils discussing deal

"According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, the Calgary Flames have informed teams defenseman TJ Brodie is available and the New Jersey Devils are interested. The Devils continue the make over to their roster and are looking for an offensive defenseman from the left side to compliment their group.

Calgary in return is believed to have targeted Devils versatile forward, Blake Coleman in discussions.Coleman finished last season with 22 goals and 36 points, and is making $1.8 million the next two seasons.Meanwhile, Brodie is a steady two-way defender who tallied 34 points, also finished the year +29, which was amongst the league lead."

Who is Luke Fox? Is he even a legitimate insider?

Also looking him up on SN.ca and his twitter, I see nothing where he said anything like this. Does this Luke guy do radio too?

Looks like he's a regular writer for Sportsnet.

But then again.. so is Eric Francis. Who knows..
Yeah, I've never heard of the guy. I looked at his RFA article and its mostly just adding a narrative to previous quotes in the media.

I think it's more of a "I'll only play in Calgary OR Philly" type things. Like, if he can't get into Philly (which is possible considering their young glut of talent needing big deals in the next couple years and this year) he'd just stay here. Philly is his home, but at the same time, he is definitely building roots here as well, and especially if Mony stays, he'll have one of his best friends here as well. It wouldn't be the first time there's been a player who took the "Only way I'm not playing here is if it's for my hometown team" (regardless of if they ever actually say it). It happens in any pro sports environment. I feel like that is where Gaudreau is at (but obviously, he can't just say "Yeah if I'm playing pro, it's either as a Flame or a Flyer" because of how much outrage and unnecessary attention that would cause).

He's a writer on Sportsnet.
All his articles are very, very heavy Leafs fan-fiction pieces that scream homer journalist similar to a Spector ilk.

I don't think he's ever broken a trade.

Thanks. I had a feeling it was something like this.

With Big Buff, maybe out for the Jets, would you guys be ok with TJ Brodie to Winnipeg. Gives the cap space and gives them a D.

Brodie for the rights to sign Connor? Don't mind if I do....

A deal surrounding Ehlers, has always seemed like a solid move.
They need cap space, have been rumoured to be testing the market on Ehlers. Clearly there would need to be some adds due to the UFA status; dunno. We'll see.

I felt like Ehlers was pretty underwhelming last season (especially with a 6M salary). But that might mean it's the right time to buy low on him. Just not sure how we would make the dollars work... we'd need to find 1.5M in extra space to fit him in.

I want Jack Roslovic from the Jets. I think he'a a guy who could "pop" in our middle 6.

Not sure how it would work but Frolik + a pick perhaps?

I think Tre would have to have a taker for Frolik in addition to that trade. It becomes more unlikely with the amount of moving parts to make it work however.

But something like:

Michael Frolik + Mark Jankowski + 2019 3rd to Ottawa for Connor Brown
TJ Brodie + 2019 2nd + 2020 2nd for Nik Ehlers (I don't know if this is even close?)
Matthew Tkachuk signed for 3 x 7.75M

Lineup:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ehlers
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Bennett
Dube/Mangi - Backlund - Brown
Lucic - Ryan - Czarnik/Dube/Mangi

Giordano - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic
Kylington - Stone

Rittich
Talbot

I think outside of a questionable 3rd pair; that team would be all kinds of ugly to deal with just in terms of speed and depth. That wing speed outside of Chucky and Looch is repugnant. I think that first line could give the MacKinnon line a run for its money in terms of speed up the ice.

If Big Buff calls it quits, gotta think Winnipeg will be desperate to add a Veteran D. They will have lost Buff, Trouba, Myers and Chiarot in 1 offseason.

Brodie could command a lot from them.

Brodie still has to agree to waive for Winnipeg

I'm assuming that like most players, WPG is on his no trade list
