It should be because they would have forgone drafting a player in the ED. But the reality is:

1: They could have just got this deal today

OR

2: they could have told Philly they wanted Hagg but will take Ghost for something better than a 2 and 7. Which Philly would have done

What you don’t do is take a scrub and fail to weaponize cap for any picks

Now if they were actually smart you end up getting JVR instead of Ghost. You get picks from Philly to do so. Then you retain half of JVR and get some picks again to trade him

So, Flyers gave up Shayne Gostisbehere for free????? Okay. Good job Philly!

So his value has gone from Philly's franchise 1D to nothing, in 3 years.

I'm laughing my ass off when Shayne returns to his 2018 form.

Its ont like his abilities, skill, skating, everything, can magically disappear....
-we all have bad spells, dude has like 6-8 more prime years left in his career....
especially in these days, when defensmen, are playing to older age what before, or in a long time.

Its all about mental aspect; the team is underperforming, star defenseman struggles,
the player underperforms, the player gets traded, player gets back to previous form
after fresh re-start, we've all seen this happen before many times.

Sure, there is the other side of the spectrum, it can always go for the worse, not saying it can't
however, he is still the same player who he was back in 2018, just 3 years ago, he just havent
found his game after 2018.

You're overthinking this. Francis could have gotten Ghost, Twarynski, and a 2nd for nothing yesterday.

Coyotes top 5 defensemen signed for next season at the moment are
Chychrun, OEL, Gostisbehere, Söderström, Lyubushkin.....not bad.

Wish Hawks had that kind of D...

Francis dropped the ball here. This was an easy trade. A 2nd is worth it, and Ghost probably would've gotten 1PP and upped his value. They could've flipped him as well

Congrats Arizona on your new top pairing Defenseman. Not even joking. He was our best dman last year, which isn’t saying anything. His defensive woes are wildly incorrect. He has a fantastic active stick, good instincts, and is very effective at getting the puck out of the zone. I’m so mad right now.
Does he play the Right side? If not he is at best on second pairing behind Chychrun.

apparently not, as see the 2nd round pick needed to move him. 4.5m doesn't seem like lots of cap to me.
I meant to say if he improves his play (which he would've been given all the opportunity) and they retain at the deadline or something. I'm sure a contender would give a pick for him at a reduced hit at the deadline.

Let's compare Ghost's offensive production vs the D the Coyotes rolled out not named Chychrun.

Ghost 41 games - 9 goals - 11 assists

OEL 46 games - 3 goals - 21 assists
Demers 41 games - 0 goals - 4 assists
Hjalmarsson 41 games - 0 goals - 5 assists
Oesterle 43 games - 1 goal - 10 assists
Lyubushkin 42 games - 1 goal - 1 assist
Goligoski 56 games - 3 goals - 19 assists

Demers, Hammer, Oestele and Goligoski are all gone. Replacing one of those spots with Ghost and getting a second is just fine with me.

And Ghost did that with low PP time and AV used him mostly with 3rd and 4th line at 5 on 5 for some reason.

ARI continues to be the wasteland for all teams looking to shed bad deals. I feel sorry for ARI fans, if they even have any left. That organization is a joke.
As a Coyotes fan I cant refute your comments rather say I am mildly optimisitic that the fantastic group of talent scouts they have assembled will finally build this team the right way.
