Can Arizona fans comment on the alleged character issues? Was there a sense that he was maturing off the ice?

The only thing that was reported was the 3 game suspension for trying to pull a maneuver to break free of a linesman. Other than that, we don't know anything.

I think I really like this for Phoenix. You have one of the best defencemen in the NHL OEL who is going to be a UFA in 2 years, you got to think its time to show him why he should stick around. The amount of talent they have under 22 is already staggering, and this draft is weak. Expect more out of the Coyotes this summer.

I think Duchene ends up a Ranger after this deal somehow.

Sakic's asking price is evidently absurd. It'll take the 7th and an offensive and defensive prospect according to what I'm seeing on Twitter. I can't see them moving that for Duchene. Duchene will probably end up on some up and coming team as and of the win now ones are largely not equipped to give up what they want except maybe Pittsburgh

Nice move for both teams.

Yotes needed a goalie and badly needed help at C. They filled both these holes in one trade. Yotes count real dollars and Stepan is owed 23M over 4 years (5.75 average) which is the number they care about.

Rags got a good young Dman & the 7th overall to help their youth situation. Rangers still have Zibanejad & Hayes down the middle. Miller also played a decent amount of center last year so he could be the one to backfill that spot. Rags are set up much better for the future. They now have quality youth and a lot more money to fill to bring free agents in & New York has the advantage of other teams of being an attractive place to sign for players.

Stepan will automatically become the most charming guy in the locker room. He'll win everybody over who might be upset with getting him.

It's crazy that Stepan didn't have an NTC in that contract. I would never agree to a 6 year deal without an NTC

This trade also raises the question about the Rangers future in goal because Lundqvist isn't getting any younger. Do the Rangers have someone in mind inside their organization if Lundqvist gets hurt or his play slips??

I like this deal for both teams. I like Arizona chucking a bit of their future for a far more competitive squad. And I like the Rangers trying to get younger while rebooting the roster a bit.

I think they will aim for a big UFA now, but I don't think it will be Shattenkirk (no matter how much he wants to be a Ranger).

DeAngelo can quarterback the Rangers' power play, that is his best attribute.
