It's really a no-lose situation.

If NYR wins, we move up in the draft (as many others have mentioned already).

If BOS wins, they lose their 1st rounder this year (Jagr trade).

But I'd prefer the former.

I'm a selfish Leafs' fan and my goal is whatever is best for the Leafs.

Draft picks come into play.

I've heard 2 scenarios, draft order is impacted by series wins, and the other is draft order is impacted only by the teams who make the conference finals.

If it is necessary for the Rangers to beat the Bruins for the Leafs to benefit in the draft, GO Rangers, otherwise, Go Bruins.

The final four clubs are also the final four draft picks, with the other 26 going in order of regular season finish (but conference champion Washington considered as finishing higher than non champion clubs even though they may have had more points). A win in the first round doesn't change the draft order, they must win two.

The Kings, Devils, Rangers and Coyotes were last seasons final four drafters in spite of their regular season finishes being 13th, 9th, 2nd, and 11th.

A slight chance that Sharks and Rags could come out of their series moving the Leafs pick to 19th.

So we'd really like to see:

Wings vs Sharks
Sens vs Rangers

A Bruins - Pens final 4 would make an excellent series with best defense going up against best offense in the East.

Two best teams in the Eastern Conference going head to head.

I started off planning on not cheering for them simply because it hurt.
But at this point, I want them to win the cup.
I want to know it took the best team to barely beat the Leafs, and only because we collapsed.

I really don't care either way but i'm cheering for all the teams that finished under us during the reg season to make it to the conference finals .

A couple of spots higher in the draft can't hurt .

Pulling for Boston in the east but I doubt they can get by Pitts. Kinda like the Kings for a repeat though...

neutral, but i guess in the series boston is my preferred team based on the roster

boston-pittsburgh would be a great conference final
I agree.

I don't mind the Bruins. Some of their players took a few cheap shots on the Leafs but I've seen worse of other teams. Not a fan of Marchand, though. Sorry, Bruins fans. But, I like the rest of your team. When Marchand lost the puck vs NY, he just glided back and thought, 'ah, I'll let my team mates back check and do all the work.' He's an agitator, though, and is usually hated by fans of other teams but does play a good role. Anyway...

Not sure why fans here think it's good for the Leafs and their breakdown if the Bruins do well. It doesn't make one bit of difference. There's an article in one of the Toronto papers about the Leafs being exhausted so they fell apart. This is what I mean about the sugarcoating by the Toronto media. Read that article, folks. Fans here always complain that the media is too hard on them but that is an example of always making excuses.

How can you defend the Leafs and say they were exhausted? They're supposedly faster, younger and the Bruins had TWO ROOKIE defencemen playing! Yet, the younger, faster Leafs who had the advantage of two rookie dmen on the Bruins, are suddenly so tired and couldn't play?!? RC was just awful with his coaching that game. The Leafs didn't self-destruct, they just did what they always do. They stop any form of attack from the offensive side and *hope* they don't get scored on. It looked like Boston was on a PP for the last 10 minutes of that game. It continued into OT. Yes, they were dreadful in faceoffs but that's not why they lost.

Yet, fans here are apparently saying that the #1 reason. Sorry, they just didn't have enough talent and they stopped any sort of attack offensively. When you just wait and back in, defensively, while giving Boston all kinds of time to set up in your own zone, it's only a matter of time until they score and that's what they did.

That's on RC and lack of talent and (thus, no) strategy.

The Boston Bruins scored two goals playing 6 on 5. Before that, they were losing in the series and getting outplayed.

Please explain how this means that the Leafs didn't have enough talent?

RC and the boys screwed up sitting back. We could have won that series and would probably walk through the rags just like the Bs are going to.

I posted at the TDL we need to get JBo and maybe a vet goalie. They didn't do that, played Kostka etc etc. this was a year to push and we were a contender and most didn't see it.

Next year will be harder then this year, don't know what Nonis was thinking having 3! PPG players which is crazy rare to have on a team.

Oh well.

Cheering for the Bruins is akin to suffering from Stockholm syndrome.

This to say, I've been enjoying the Western Conference games quite a bit.

From afar, here's hoping King Henrik shows up...because I don't give a Marchand's face about the quality of the hockey going on in the East...

Cooke's on the Pens...Can't cheer for them.

Ottawa's still kicking...Won't cheer for them.

Cheering for Boston should merit banishment...And though I've got a soft spot for Lundqvist (despite giving him and his buddy the stink eye at The Bay by The Eaton Center a number of years ago around Christmas) and Torts, and Callahan, etc...It's the Rangers...Meh...

The enemy of my enemy and all that...Go Rags.

This. All I care about is our draft position, so I want Rangers/Sens/Wings/Sharks to win.
