Ive watched him play for 2 years and played against him. Honestly leaf nation would eat him up. in the last 10 games ive seen him make more mistakes than anything. also do nothing in the WRJs id rather see drouin.

what are you talking about?this kid is the real deal the number 1 center we need!

nothing but midget centers

Dude these guys are still growing.. You dont go from 5'5 to 6'2 overnight

if we are out of it by trade deadline, I think we should try and grab up teams in 9, and 10 spots for 1st round draft picks. If we can get those then we increase our chance of getting the 1st overall since all non-playoff teams can have a chance at 1st overall albeit a small one. Obviously if there is an option of getting a higher pick then go for it, but it borderline playoff teams will be the ones throwing away their 1st rounders to get into the playoff.

I'm confused here, you say that you would have made the same moves that the GM has made, but you think they're tanking?

Does that mean you'd be tanking?

Everybody is so focused on we need to draft a 1st line center like MacKinnon.

When the real story is we simply need to get a premium asset out of the draft to add to our cupboard.

Boston drafted Kessel then traded him. We know that story.

LA drafted Schenn and were able to trade him for a 1st line center in Mike Richards who just happens to play as their 2nd line center.

If the Leafs draft someone like Jones or Drouin and they end being the real deal. That means as a result we could trade a Lupul or Gardiner or Kadri or Grabo to fill that 1st line center or it might even mean we now have the cap space to sign a Getzlaf or trade for an overpaid player like Vinny.

I really like what the Leafs are doing with this lineup. Should have been done 4 or 5 years ago. As far as the Leafs not biting on Luongo it seems that Canucks fans are the most upset about it.

Yeah I bet they were so happy when people speculated Burke was fired because he didn't want to overpay for Luongo?

They thought Nonis would pay Gardiner, Kadri, 2nd for that awful contract..

Ha I know that dude. Good to see him actually going places.

The thing with this team is that you don't know what you're going to see. Last year they were doing pretty well until they completely fell apart near the end. They seemed incapable of maintaining that level of play for a whole season. So maybe in a shortened season they can make the playoffs.

I think it's more of a "let's just see where it goes" type of thing. They've cut some dead weight on the team, and now we can see what they can do. I'm going to assume that these players have pride. I would like to believe that they are sick of missing the post season and sick of losing. I really want to see a playoff berth. At the same time there are some great centers in the upcoming draft. Most people are expecting the Leafs to have a terrible record, and if that's the case I suppose we will get our shot at drafting a #1.

I'll be really happy with making the playoffs but if we are complete crap and end up with a lottery pick that isn't bad either. What I do want to see is accountability. If a player plays like crap don't be afraid to bench them because of their salary.

This is what I've been saying. Don't tank, let see what this completely unpredictable team can do, with a new coach and system.

IF you did play against him, you probably were a last minute add on because 5 kids got sick.

As if we will pass on Nathan M. simply because some other 17 yr old wannabe is jealous and won't even make it to the last round of the draft.

Every year we are a bit optimistic here, and feel that this year will be better, but it hasn't been for awhile.

The fresh blood in the team is Kosta, Fraser, Holzer, Kadri, Orr is back and JVR. With Connolly, Lambo and Schenn heading out, Steckle being a sub.

Orr has improved a lot as a 4th liner, and I look forward to the Orr-McClement-Brown line, I'm still unsure about Kulemin-Grabo-Mac returning to form, and the kadri line is going to be excellent or terrible.

I pray Nonis doesn't make a move for Lou and just rides this young team for 48 games.

So far so good....

Could this be the beginning of rebuild???

god I hope so. But this is the leafs so....

Beginning? It started with Schenn 4 1/2 years ago.

We only need this year, Get one of the centerman, And go from there.

I wish the leafs were tanking but guys like kessel lupul phaneuf are good players.... They won't let us be THAT bad imo, I'd say close to 22nd and 10-12th in the east I doubt were in the bottom 3 but I wish we were.

MacKinnon or Jones would be unreal, and either one will fill 1/3 of our team needs.

Does anyone know exactly how the lottery balls are weighted 1-14? A playoff bubble team technically has a chance to draft MacKinnon or Jones

Tanking is what we have been doing for the last 4 years. (see 4 straight bottom 10 finishes) I only hope we hang on to our 1st round picks so we can properly REBUILD this time around.

Are we REBUILDING should be the question ... the answer is a resounding yes.

However The OFFICIAL rebuild begins and ends with the Trading of Phil Kessel - Until that happens were still in hockey PURGATORY.
