Definitely don't think they are deliberately tanking. Too many young guys with something to prove. Carlyle putting in a lot of work on defence and puck battles. These areas tighten up and they can make Scrivens/Reimer look much better. And I still have faith that both of these goalies can play in the bigs anyway.

I think if they miss the playoffs again, they'll go down fighting. Carlyle doesn't seem like he'll accept anything less than 100 percent.

The Leafs were #7 seed after 42 games at 22-15-5 last season and started to slide thereafter, hopefully they can maintain that pace and push through into the playoffs with a healthy Reimer.

No of course NOT.

HOWEVER Nonis probably told the suits if there was ever a year to suck, this is it.

He told them no accelerated rebuilds.

He told them let the kids play and see what develops.

The silver lining is if we miss the playoffs, we will sell at deadline.

Nonis is a smart cookie. He looked at our first 15 games and knew we would be
5-10.

By the deadline we are finished. We sell off what we can for picks. We do some
dealing and try and land a top pick.

I truly believe we are going into the draft with 3 number 1 picks and a few 2nd rounders. We will probably finish around 22nd. Trade up and get our man.

You cannot transform the entire mentality of the team to Randy's system in one week. There will be lots of players out of position, confused. We will be grinded down by top teams and our goalies won't bail us out.

Expect a 15-33 record

The fact that guys like Lombardi and Connolly could not make the team bodes extremely well.

It means we UPGRADED from these guys. It's only going to make us better.

I just want to either see playoffs or tank.. ending up 9-11 in Eastern Conference would make me a sad panda.

A superstar in the making since an early age, MacKinnon provides a very complete combination of speed and skill. He is an amazing skater with fantastic puckhandling. MacKinnon has the ability to make quick plays and score flashy goals, but isn't shy about battling for the puck in front of the net either. He is surprisingly physical and owns a great shot to go along with quick hands. (Matias Strozyk, 2012)

We are not tanking. We're just not going to overpay for Luongo and see overpaid players doing nothing and getting paid for it.

Believe it or not, Lombardi and Connolly not being on this team is better for Leafs standings wise.

We will do better this year, I know it.

So many people with so much to prove. You don't think Reimer and Scrivens are tired about the Luongo talk? They want to prove that they are good enough to take this team home.

You don't think Kadri wants to prove he belongs? He's going to be ready every night to show that the Leafs were right in keeping faith in him and not trading him.

How about Lupul...he's going to be playing for the biggest contract of his NHL career. He's going to put it all on the line.

There are too many players on this team with too much on the line.

If the current goalies are horrible then yes, we are tanking. If they are not then no, we are not. I think the plan is not to tank but nonis wants to see what happens in this short season.

There will be no intentional tank.

It is let the chips fall where they may,Gillis wants too much and Luongo guarantees nothing. This is a strong draft and there are other players besides Mackinnon who is dropping,Seth now number one.Drouin and Barkov could also climb over him.

The most likely scenario is they will play the kids and if we are out at trade deadline they will begin to unload veterans for max return.I am sure if a vet goalie becomes available at a reasonable price they will trade for him.Nonnis has learned from Burke's mistake, there are no shortcuts and we need more elite talent before we can compete for a cup.

Kadri and Gardiner for Luongo will not happen.

Yep. I think that was Burke's biggest mistake. Shortcut's just don't work when you have no foundation.

Seems to me we're doing what Ottawa did last year, just playing the kids.

If we trade key players like Kessel/Lupul/Grabo/Phaneuf for picks, then you can probably say we're tanking.

Ive watched him play for 2 years and played against him. Honestly leaf nation would eat him up. in the last 10 games ive seen him make more mistakes than anything. also do nothing in the WRJs id rather see drouin.

Leafs will make the playoffs. All heart on this team. Scrivvy and Reims will pull it out.

All heart on this team? You must be joking. This is the roster that folded down the stretch last year when the games got important after they had been in a playoff spot for most of the season.

The current Leafs roster and the word heart don't belong in the same sentence.
