I think this Leafs team is built for entertainment purposes first and foremost with the high prices paid to star players a validation for highest ticket prices in the NHL.

Sadly they're regular season Warriors and playoff Paper Tigers.

1/2 their regular season games are decided by gimmick rules 3v3 OT and SO which caters to talent but don't exist once the real season starts which are the playoffs that really matter.

I was hoping this team was a Ferrari but it’s becoming increasingly clear this team is a crappy Station Wagon.

The wheels came off tonight. Have to take it for another ride on Saturday.

Station wagons win Cups. Ferrari's break down at the sight of potholes and any inclement weather. I wish this team were a '74 Ford Country Squire.

Wheels fell off last night so we are this now.

i'll be honest with you guys: i know i'm a bit of a wall flower on hf leafs but the way the team is playing (sans goalie blip), the position we are in, if we don't win the next three cups, i will deem this rebuild a complete and utter failure and personally hold Dubas accountable. those are my expectations. no more excuses: we have the talent.
My advice to you would be, enjoy every single minute of round 1 like it's your last...cause it will be. 😉

I am thinking there may be no round 1.
Did you see how fearful we were of the Sabres. No push back even in the situation of being laughed at.
There ìs real trouble in this room, with or without Reaves fancy music.
No team should ever absorb such a beating with a smile. If they look bad against CBJ it should be time for a major change.
I am staying on the wagon, and I proposd we kick a few off.

Their hands are tied:
-Keefe's extension hasn't even kicked in yet, he's not going anywhere
-Mathews not getting traded
-Marner has a NTC
-Willie has been our best player for stretches, unlikely he goes anywhere
-Tavares full NMC

Nothing they can do outside of re-jigging the bottom of the roster like they do every year, but the problem is the core makeup. All these big guys are complacent, non-combative, they simply do not want to get their hands dirty.

I'd go with a 1980 Oldsmobile. Those things could survive anything.

I believe your stars should not get their hands dirty, but it appears over the ĺast few years that nobody will play a tougher style, nobody will step up (Knies did for Domi) so I conclude that the stars are so unlikeable that it will never happen.
When a 40 yr old shows his willingness and no one else...hmmmm.
I think Mitchy and his bride are expecting, and he carrying. What else can explain his unwillingness most nights.

Your stars should battle in the corners and lay hits. They don't have to fight.

Not sure where to ask this, so sorry if there is a better thread for this…

Why doesn’t Mitch Marner score more goals? Are Leaf’s fans happy with his current goal scoring production? I was looking at his stats the other day and for his career he averages about 27 goals a season. I know he has always been a pass first guy, but with his skating ability, skill level and TOI, I would think that it would be easy for him to score close 35-40g a year consistently. Is this due to playing with AM34? Am I being too harsh? He’s a great player regardless.
