You're right, Wow, memory is a funny thing, I could have sworn it was the Leafs. In my defence, it was over 50 years ago but still, I'm surprised.Leafs won that game 13-0. Jan 2, 1971.

We are a sleeper carNot at all.
We're a fast car with rust spots, a couple spare tires with an engine that knocks, that somehow manages to stick around more often than not.
Why 'despite Tre' instead of 'thanks to Tre'?Despite Tre, I believe we are a wagon. We are gonna ride roughshod over this league. All we have to do is protect ourselves from saddle sores.
No they weren't. Any player not brought in by Dubas is a totally useless loser and the only reason we haven't won the Cup each of the last five years. Our best players were brought in by Lou and Burke. Do they get some credit if the team succeeds?
With too many Lazyboy recliners at times………We are a sleeper car
When fans asked for a team with grit, toughness, piss and vinegar etc. this is what they meant. This is what we're seeing that people asked for.
To the ones who pretended not to understand and posted stuff like "oh let's trade Matthews for Colton Orr" or "let's just have a team full of goons" this team is what people have been crying out for.
It isn't the finished article. There's a couple more good players with toughness needed to be added, but this is the closest version we've seen in nearly a decade.
The bolded is the most important. Stick up for each other, not just the goalie, but every single player on the team. A group of individuals will never win the cup, you need a team to do that. After Marchand took out Liljegren and nobody stood up for him, I lost all hope I ever had for this group. Since then, Domi and Knies have both stood up for their teammates, that gives me some hope. That's all it is for now though, hope - I'm a long way from being confident that this bunch is prepared to do what it takes.I think it's mostly a mindset thing.
I will run you over on my way to the front of the net if I have too.
You better not touch our goalie or there will be a pack of us ready to go after you.
It doesn't matter which type of game you want to play (high scoring, low scoring, physical, dirty etc), we're ready for anything.
When people say we need to get tougher, it doesn't even just mean "fights" and "da hitz".
It's the willingness to basically do whatever it takes to win and take no crap from the other team while also dishing it out.
I think that's what you're starting to see more out of from this group the past month or so.

What I'd really like to see is just one time, Matthews be the one who slugs somebody. If he leads, everyone else just might follow. I mean I love what Domi and Knies did but they're not the leaders of this team so I'm not sure that's enough. We'll see.
Yeah I'm so used to this team getting pushed around, ever since Kadri left there's been no pushback to speak of from anyone no matter what happens. Domi and Knies, those were the first positive signs but like you said so perfectly with the bolded part - we need everyone on board!Yep I agree with your feelings about the Marchand sequence and in the moment it didn't feel great as a fan to again see such limited response but in hindsight that might have given Keefe/Treliving the ammunition to really go at the group and call some things out. This shift in attitude also has to be team wide and adopted by every player not just relying on some 4th liners to bring this intensity.
Now the challenge is playing like this on a regular basis month in month out. We just did it for a nice sample of games but this also comes after a very poor start to the season so consistency needs to be shown here for it to be a serious factor.
i don't understand why some of the Dubas fan club are still hanging around the Leaf board
It's entertaining in the same way watching the Washington Generals play is entertaining. Just don't expect them to win. This team is a wagon all right.
It's on fire and being circled. If they fail again it would be foolhardy to continue with this same core. Some would argue it already is.
Some would say it's downright stupid.
This is professional sports. Winning is everything. If I just wanted to be entertained and not care about the outcome I'd watch wrestling.
I'm sorry but I don't have a loser mentality that allows me to accept athletes expecting people to pay for the honour of cheering for them to make millions of dollars to play a game and lose.
Some people, like Tanenbaum, Shanahan, and a few fans with fat wallets and empty heads, do. If that makes them a better person than me then by all means they should wear that badge with great pride. Because only a fan like me would watch this firewagon for all these years and call it entertainment.
I could only imagine paying for the honour of watching them burn.
