Well they lost again today, although they did get a point but the Rangers are up 3-2 after 2 so that might not matterl

Their playoff spot isn't looking to secure

The rags would still be 3 points behind us and have played one extra game.

Also pretty sure the caps, isles and pens are all behind us too

That's not a lot in general, but considering the devils had a 13 game win streak at one point that's even less
No idea what this means. The standings are the standings.

The Devils rough patch coincided with seemingly every Metro team having a big December. The schedule gets easier in January and there are signs that guys like Bratt and Hischier are snapping their cold streak. We’ll see where it goes.

It means that considering the devils had a 13 game win streak the Rangers shouldn't be in range at all, the Devils should be gone baby gone

they played the hottest team in the NHL to a draw today. Strange time to be posting that their playoff spot isn't looking "TOO" secure.

I know,I watched it, it was a great game.

They have 2 wins in their last 11 according to the broadcast, I think that makes it fair to say as of January 1 their playoff spot isn't looking too secure.

That could change but it is what it is right.

If they were playing terribly, I'd agree with you. But they aren't playing badly and there's some regression to the mean (ie..probably won some they shouldn't gave early on and are losing some they shouldn't have now).

As for "not looking too secure", they are still ahead of 4 teams that would have to pass them

Goaltending is going to be the key thing for them though.

It looks like Blackwood will see more time and games, so don't count out a collapse. It might really be on at this point.

Should a Leafs fan be giving advice to Devils fans on collapses? I mean its game 40, can we check back in another 10 games?

I mean don't you think a Leaf fan would know what a collapse looks like? We have seen them most recently against Montreal in the playoffs.

Some would say Tampa last year but I don't think that quite qualifies
