Are they coach killers?

I can...the coach does not need any help he has done it'll on his own. Our GM killed our last coach, this one needs no help.

No ability to make changes on the fly. Over plays players to the point of exhaustion in far to many games.

Keeps putting lineups out without merit. Then even when a player is horrible keeps playing them in key situations.

Attacking players in the media is the death of a coach. He has done so too many times this year alone.
Look at his goalies the last 3 games... lol what a moron he starts the back up in two of the 3.
He changes the D pairs and he could not of helped our opponents more with his choices.
He allows Holl, Sanding, and others to pinch without worry of getting benched. So stupid. Watch our opponents they constantly pick on two of our D man foe this.

He is among the best at saying nothing but sounding serious. I have never been a fan of him or his phony boss.
It’s like you just took the words from my head.
There are just so many stuff I don’t understand why Keefe is doing it.

I still remembered when he first started how he instructed a forward to man the point and have both Dmen pinched. Or how he pretty much okay at least one Dman to constantly join the rush and pinch, I understand if that Dman is Reilly but not if his name is Mete, Sandin and Holl.

Mitch and Auston know they are untouchable. They both are top 10 cap hits in the NHL and were given the bread before they won a single thing. They are regular season heroes but need to be surrounded by warriors in order to succeed.

Dubas has surrounded them with guys like Malgin, Engvall, Kerfoot, some of the softest players in the league. Dubas is going strictly by the stats/analytics, but there's no analytics for a pendulous set of balls.
So sad that Dubas doesn’t go by playoff stats

1. I don’t think they are.
2. Didn’t Babs flew to Arizona to meet with AM after the playoffs. Thus I don’t see why most here only mentions MM and not AM.

I don't know, I'm not in the room

I'm the first to say they have been bloody terrible this season so far and I haven't liked the way Marner has reacted to the coaches criticism but that doesn't mean he's dogging it or undermining the coach in the room

They both need to pull finger because this is starting to really spiral out of control

We know Keefe is showing urgency and showing up.

What about the leadership core, have they shown the same urgency? Tavares Rielly Matthews Marner...nope!

This is entirely on the core...again!

They responded well to Keefe for multiple full seasons, and now aren't playing their best hockey, but yes, let's just look at the 10 games instead of the multiple other seasons where they performed their best and the team had their best season ever.

None of which matters when they crash and burn in the playoffs.

What about JT91, WN88 and MR44?

Do you, and the rest of his critics, realize that JT has a higher ppg as a Leaf than as an Islander?

Its not about the coach. IF Dubas had any idea how to build a d-core, this team would be getting along just fine. Keefe cant turn mud into gold with that d-core, revolving door of goalies isnt that serious. The d-core folds under pressure, cant get the puck out, bad reads , old and slow etc. Reilly is a 2-3 dman on a good team, he is soft, does not put it on the line in the d zone, doesnt love to defend in general....and it shows. This team goes no where near the cup with Reilly as a #1.

So what you're saying is that captain gets no blame for the team's troubles and gets a pass while their two best players should be thrown under the bus and labelled coach killers. Because of power play points.

He is not leader material. JT needs to hand over the C to Matthews IMO. Doesn't mean I don't like JT as a player. It's a leadership issue.

We need something in between Babcock and Keefe.

Babcock was too old school for the soft younger generation. Didn't give a crap about managing their feelings (something that a coach just HAS to do these days for some reason). And too stingy with minutes for our elite players.

But Keefe essentially lets the young elite core do what they want. They're in charge. He walks on eggshells with everything he says and does around them. Gives them whatever minutes they want.

We need something in between.

There's some truth to Babcock's reputation of mismanagement in Toronto and Detroit. There's truth to the idea that there's a different kind of reputation of mismanagement to Keefe's style and perhaps, to Dubas' insistence on retaining questionable hires (ie Malholtra).

What Toronto can do outside the cap, Toronto should do. So if that means lining that backbench with the absolute best specialists available and overpaying them and acquiring the best coach with the best reputation...Why wouldn't the club pursue this?

Take the possibility away from any single player of being a coach killer and bring in one that is by reputation and accolade bullet-proof before another club does.

Making the right moves shouldn't have to be done reactively in the moment, but proactively in anticipation of the club's clear and glaring needs.

Clearly they are not because Keefe has basically been a disaster PO wise, and is still here.

Add: Keefe is getting pretty chubby though so there may be a long term angle to this... Stay tuned.

To be fair, a month ago it seemed like almost everyone wanted Keefe fired. A month from now, things could change again.

Last year was had a record breaking November IIRC, this year we did it again but there seems to be less people chirping about it. Maybe they've learned that success in November isn't worth bragging about? Or maybe they're just on my ignore list, who knows.

Gary we just need Dubas and Keefe to pass the tests. Love that that they're doing well. Hope they translate this regular season success into a post season Championship run that's noteworthy.

They've yet pass a test in the playoffs, maybe this will be the year. We'll see.

I got no problem with JT having the C, it's honestly the most overrated title in sports. What does he really do? Be the one to talk to the Refs? Maybe but I've see that with non-lettered players plenty of times.

To me it should have been Morgan just because he stuck it out through those tough years and still became a top 20 Dman in the NHL. That kind of stuff can ruin a player.... Look at the Oilers 2007 - 2013 player development.

And Mo's Dad was the greatest draft reaction ever, do it for him!

Sounds like you're reaching for clues, I already called out WN88 and MR44 earlier in this thread. But cool story about his Dad. I'm sure it makes Johnny Toronto look like a better captain in your warped world view.
