He has no reason to have “his ego fractured” in a fight that was a draw. He obviously felt like he got jumped or he wouldn’t have said it. I think there’s an argument he was. That said, as you pointed out it’s nothing he’s never done himself.
He came out flexing in the warmup after beaking all summer about how things would change since he was in Toronto now, while your GM giggled like a school girl when he flexed.

Then he takes a run at Xhekaj’s buddy Guhle, hits him hard in the numbers and Xhekaj tosses him around and lands the best two punches of the fight. Wasn’t a great scrap by any means but it was obvious who was manhandling who there. Your GM looked like he was going to cry, and Reaves doesn’t get to do his little dog and pony show he enjoys so much after the fights over. Then Reaves doesn’t even look at Xhekaj for the rest of the game, but then starts talking in the media? Of course his ego is hurt, he talked a good game since he signed but he didn’t back it up. Now he’s embarrassed and trying to set up a fight 5 months from now.

It's pretty clear that Arber really only belongs on the ice in pre-season at this point of his career, but given he is on a bottom feeder, he gets a bit more time. In a few years, we will look back and laugh.
From a guy that hasn’t watched him play very often obviously. Way more potential than bust. I’m sure the Sens would be ecstatic to have him as their #4/5/6 D.

Nah man, I’ve just seen your 12 posts and counting in here and I’m wondering why you’re so hurt. You’re like a teenage girl.
my posts saying that he is a 3rd pairing defender? How is that me being “hurt”? What’s the matter with that? Is he not a third pairing defender?

Seems to me you have a fragile ego, and can’t face the reality that Xhekaj is in fact, a third pairing defender at this point in time.

Wow, this is classic seeing what you want to see. He did not land the best two punches of the fight and the fight was clearly a draw. People want to act like Reaves was manhandled, but the reality is the wrestled a bit, Xhekaj lunges forward a bit pushing a guy who is on skates, so of course Reaves glided backwards and subsequently trips on the net. This whole situation is having waaaay too much made of it.

So far Reaves has one nothing fight/wrestling match with Xhekaj, a solid fight with Foligno, and a bunch of hits. He’s been exactly as advertised. And his supposed “beaking all summer” was usually less about toughness and fighting than it was talking about the role he’ll try to play within the group.

You did create a thread questioning his role with the habs over Norlinder and then post it again here. You have an obsession over his name for some reason, I don't think you need more than basic hockey knowledge to understand his role with the Habs. As for Arber he is 22 years old and playing in his 2nd season, he is not the final product at all, there will be rough patch like with any young player, even the top rated prospects. But very few 22 years old hard nosed defenseman/enforcer have had as much success that early in their careers, it's a rarity. He is more than a fighter otherwise he would not have a permanent role with the habs.

Did Norlinder not outplay him in the preseason? we’re you not watching the games?

Where have I ever said he is a final product? I have stated OVER and OVER in this thread that he has the potential to be more than a third pairing defender, but at this point in time he is a third pairing defender… what’s so hard to grasp about that?

Fragile snowflakes in this thread

To be honest with you, not really. Norlinder showed some flashes but he is not a similar type of defenseman to Xhekaj at all. Norlinder had a worse year in the AHL than Xhekaj in the NHL at this point in their respective careeer. They cannot play the same type of minutes and Norlinder has never shown consistency. He would have had no chance to make the team over Xhekaj. As for Xhekaj he is indeed a 22 years old third pairing with PP time at this moment but you never just claimed that. You questioned if he had any reason to be included with the habs, which again, was never going to be the case and frankly quite uneducated.

I think you need to pump the brakes on your obvious hatred for the Habs. Erskine had one year over 70 games because he was not good enough to be on the ice every game. He rode the pine at least a quarter of the season every year.
How did you somehow completely miss the fact they were being compared as fighters and not players?

Just opened the video for a second but ended up watching the whole thing. Nice story, the kid is very easy to root for!

He’s the kind of player every team would want. I feel like that will have him end up getting overpaid when he gets his ufa contract.

Guys so solid. His puck skills are better than you’d expect (maybe unfairly as most just labeled him as a goon) and has good IQ; can hold his own, hope he has a long career with the Habs

Great kid and great story, and I’m happy he’s on my team.

The guy’s tough as nails and becoming a legit player. In his prime I see a top 4 D that can play on the PP. he’s got a knack for getting pucks through traffic and is solid all-round. Looking forward to watching his progress.

It is very rare that a guy as violent as him is talented enough to make it to the NHL, he is probably the most violent capable NHL player to develop in a while, even if it is on the bottom pair
