Xhekaj is a stud. Let the jealousy flow, lol.
Reaves wasn't even jumped, Xhekaj gives him time to stand up and accept the fight and Reaves throws the 1st punch .
Was going to say the same exact thing.Adam McQuaid could play. 3rd pair is no insult nor a requirement he be an enforcer.
Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete! Good! Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you!He drove us crazy in the prospects tournament because he took cheap shots at our 17-18yr old kids as a 20-21yr old overager two seasons in a row.
He was ineffective and did nothing during pre-season against men. He was even more useless against us during the regular season (he was a -5 against us last season).
Dear All,
If I may I would like to open this discussion about one of the most beloved players of the Montreal Fans.
Arber A.K.A WIFI Xhekaj
The vast majority here in Montreal think that Wifi fears no one and we believe that he will soon be in the TOP fighters in the league.
My question is, what do fans of the other teams think? If we compare Xhekaj to other tough guys ; Ryan Reaves, Nicolas Deslauriers, Milan Lucic, Tom Wilson, etcc.
Where do you think WIFI ranks?
To my dear fans of our rivals, I am very aware that not everyone likes to see post created in the general forum about players of my team.
This post is not to measure who pisses the farthest, I am aware that this season our division is tougher than ever and as we have already seen in the first game VS Toronto.... Arber is going to have to fight hard.
They know the axe is coming for their captains head.Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete! Good! Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you!
For the record, he was around the same age of all players at that prospects camp, he was just a man among boys.
Funny that all the sens posters feel he is overrated, I sense something more.
Pretty good
He's a throwback and a real character off the ice. Teammates clearly love the guy and he already garners respect throughout the league. He's one of the toughest player I've seen on the Habs in 3 decades and probably the craziest of them all. I wish we could have a younger Perry and Weber as well.
Yes.Love the way he took on reeves. Is he also good at hockey?
Yes
YES
Someone seems pretty envious.most overhyped scrub i have ever seen
You git a quote if him whining?Reaves whining fitting right in with the Leafs .
I used to think Xhekaj was a goon that could play hockey. I am now a firm believer that Xhekaj is a young physically strong and skilled dman who happens to be a good fighter.
Emphasis this season should be on his defensive game and his transition game. Arber can legitimately skate, defend and move the puck. Below is a nice sequence from Wed when he defended Knies - who is surprisingly hard to knock off the puck - then transitioned up ice (unfortunately you don't see the play develop further).
Too much emphasis is made on Xhekaj's fighting / toughness and not enough on his legitimate hockey skills. Its unfortunate that he has to fight Reeves / Looch every time they play.
Whined about getting jumped when it's clear that didn't happenYou git a quote if him whining?
I get that people love a great story, but that's all he is so far. He was arguably one of the worst D-men in the NHL last year. In spite of being super heavily sheltered he was near the bottom of the NHL for xGA/60 xGF/60 and xGF%. Nearly everyone he was on the ice with was significantly better defensively they didn't have to play with him.

Interesting. Brutal at dzone retrivals but good at dzone exits with possession. Dzone retrieval is pretty important if you're more of a physical dman since we count on them to be able to wistand a physical forecheck. Exit with possession % tells me he really wants to skate it out, but can he make the stretch passes. He seems to fail a lot of dzone exits, which tells me his passes arent great.
That's how I see him too. He's not exactly sound defensively, there's a lot of areas for improvement in his game. His numbers, advanced or not, defensively, are definitely affected by playing with d-men that are not really compatible with his style (Wideman is terrible defensively too and was his main teammate...) besides maybe Kovacevic, who is a #6 guy who is pretty vanilla by himself.Interesting. not bad but he's bigger (6'2, 210 vs 6'4, 240), better offensively and a better skater than Engelland wasIs Engelland a reasonable comparison?
John Erskine maybe? Big boy, super strong.not bad but he's bigger (6'2, 210 vs 6'4, 240), better offensively and a better skater than Engelland was
