I believe he’s 3rd on our prospect list for dmen.

Guhle, Mailloux and him in that order.

He moved ahead of Norlinder for me, but is still behind Harris - for now.

Guhle
Barron
Mailloux
Harris
Tie btwn Xhekaj & Hutson
(I have no idea where to put Hutson, such high upside and low downside)
Norlinder
Faibrother
Engstrom
Kostenko, Trudeau, Nurmi

He's an interesting prospect to watch out for no doubt. I hope they bring him along slowly so he can gain momentum/confidence in the AHL and not call him up due to injuries.

1 or 2 years in the AHL. My bet is 2.

3rd best? I wouldn't go that high yet. We have not seen any pro games yet. He is build from the back end and plays a sound game so he does have a good foundation to build on in development but we have to see pro games first.

Laval is the place to be for this kid, and hopefully he can develop into a good NHL stay at home type of Dman.
The future looks good for him!

I think he makes the NHL as a steady bottom pairing D and plays the PK.

Lots of size, grit and physicality to his game. I can see him as a useful NHLer but not a core player due to his size and style of play alone, he'll always have a job unless he can't keep up with NHL pace and makes too many mistakes. If he can be "average", he'll have a career in the NHL.

Overage player who clearly stood out in the CHL last year. We have seen this before but there is no doubt some potential there. I like his physical size and I believe his skating is solid.

2 years in the AHL and then we go from there.

He's only 6 month younger than Harris and 1 year younger than Romanov, who are NHL ready. So when he's ready he's ready. Could be this year, could be in 3 years...

But I like giving him extra AHL team rather than too little.

You're overlooking the point of him standing out in the CHL against younger players as a overager. Harris and Romanov played against men in their development years so the age difference narrative you are presenting is flawed in terms of how they look and trying to track potential forward.

Now watch this spin into some thinking I think he sucks or will bust for sure.

I agree that they have different backgrounds coming into the NHL. But some players are NHL ready right of junior, and in Xhekaj's case he's older and physically developed...

Projecting 2 years in the AHL is a good projection. It just shouldn't be set in stone.

...could give a rat's arse if the kid ever fights, as long as he brings a ton of pain to whomever is unlucky enough to go into his corner to get the puck...:naughty:
Even if it’s this troll’s face ? 🤔

It's never set in stone but I doubt he's ready before that. Probably says he plays 2 AHL years IMO. Proves me wrong? I'll be happy about that

Let's temper our expectations a little bit. He was a huge over overage player in the OHL. Making the NHL is a long shot for him, personally I don't think he makes it, but I am pulling for him.

No way he plays on the PK, he is too small to be effective in front of the he and is too short to disrupt passing lanes with his lack of reach. He is obviously a very intriguing player in the offensive zone but he will never be even an average defender unless he grows at least a couple of inches and puts on at least 25 lbs.

...ummm, are you talking about Xhekaj, cuz the person you quoted was, I believe...:dunno:
