For a round 1 game? Save that coin and come to a later matchup.
When the prices become (more) intolerable? I dunno.

If I'm spending an arm and a leg, I want to spend an arm and a leg on more meaningful/rare opportunities. But we're all different!

Thanks Walter I’ll keep that in mindif you do come later, or if anyone does, check to make sure the date doesn’t conflict with college commencements.
You wont get a room anywhere nearby.
You might find a cheaper hotel further away from the Garden. Check out taking the T.Thanks Walter I’ll keep that in mind

The Garden is near the North End which if you like eating Italian is good. The Garden also is North Station where you can pick up the T or trains to travel around Boston and other towns.Yeah the ones close by took my be surprise. I thought it might be neat to be right near the action (assuming near the garden is near the action, of course)

Twice, and have been on the subway. Not enough/well enough to understand neighborhood nuance thoThe Garden is near the North End which if you like eating Italian is good. The Garden also is North Station where you can pick up the T or trains to travel around Boston and other towns.
You have never been to Boston?
Don't give him any ideas!I assumed you'd just camp out on @Mione134 's front lawn, uninvited.
I cannot walk much because of my hip but hope you come over and say hi!Twice, and have been on the subway. Not enough/well enough to understand neighborhood nuance tho

Consider staying just outside the city but on the subway. Here's an option walkable to Wellington on the Orange Line, an option at Assembly Row which is also an orange line stop but a shopping/restaurant development.
If you go this route you're outside the city but at N Station in 3 or 4 T stops.
There's also options to stay outside the city on the South Shore, but I would never suggest someone do that.

My sentiments exactly, except replace "south" with "north"I wouldn't even recommend thinking about the disgusting, vile, inhospitable South Shore.
Although, beware the MBTA. I took it from Quincy Adams for the Winter Classic and for a sox game earlier this week. Slow zones are the norm, and it was over an hour for each trip. I could have outrun the train from NQ to JFK/UmassYou might find a cheaper hotel further away from the Garden. Check out taking the T.
