This team is amazing. We've lost 8 straight but they are so charitable!! We can afford one more loss guys.

I hope Calgary annihilates them.

Updated Flames Line Up

Cammalleri - Backlund - Byron
Glencross - Monahan - Colborne
Hudler - Stajan - McGrattan
Bryce Van Brabant - Bouma - Westgarth

Gio - Brodie
Russell - Butler
Billins - Wotherspoon

This is Bryce Van Brabant's first game as a Flame.

His calling card the past six years has been fairly straightforward: defense, physicality and, well, pain.

Quinnipiac’s Bryce Van Brabant enjoys finishing each body check. And when the 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior hits someone, he tends to leave an impression. It’s been that way ever since a growth spurt at age 15 transformed him from average-sized left winger to bruising power forward.

“There are a lot of guys that act tough but don’t finish,” Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold said. “Bryce? He’s as tough as they come.”

An unexpected infusion of offense to his repertoire has truly left a mark this winter, both on the opposition and in the notebooks of an ever-expanding horde of interested NHL scouts.

Exactly. When you lose too much, it becomes a habit no matter how talented the players are. It needs to be corrected, whether its by getting a new coach or new players, but the overall mentality of this team has to change or we'll be having a lot more leaf players saying what Kadri said.

If Nonis or Carlyle got wind of that comment I wouldn't be surprised is Kadri was a healthy scratch tonight.

Exactly right. I just wish I could figure out if the losing mentality could be corrected at the coaching, management, or player level. I just fear that it stems from all 3.

We know the answer, what was the question?

Well, we can expect Calgary to score at least one goal then tonight.

If players were accountable then yup he would.

i had not noticed this quote from kadri until just now

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris 22h
Nazem Kadri: "Maybe we can afford one more loss. We need some help too."

Nazem Kadri friend to complacency.
This quote sums up our team in a nutshell.

Oh whatever.

This is why players say nothing in interviews.

no - it's not a 'oh, whatever'. how on earth can Kadri think that they can get away with losing one more game? they have no games in hand - every pundit out there is saying they have to win 6. (in regulation) to even have a chance and that's hoping that three teams that do have games in hand lose 3 of them [in regulation]. And even then, it's probably not enough.

And it's not the first time Kadri has said something like this either.

Sure, yah be candid, but after failing to register more than 2 points out of an available 20, falling from third to wherever they are right now anything less than "if there is a word past desperate - that's how we have to play." and then in Kadri's case back it the hell up, then i'd rather he not say anything. to me that's where his head space is. there's no "you can take it another way/wrong way' that's

"oh well there's 6 games left so if we lose and have some help we're still good." it screams that he (and probably others) have no idea what's going on.

Not one player said we need to do whatever it takes to win. End quote.

Awesome post :) lol
We need to draft a center Morgan Rielly and I will feel so much better. I could live with the overpaid core if I saw our future key positions, center?, defense(Rielly), goalie(Bernier) in the fold.

What a joke. Not sure if delusional or just a ****ing idiot.

What was the question though?

If it was something like "What happens if you lose the next game, what is the plan?"

then the answer is at least reasonable.

Claude Loiselle on Hockey Central at Noon mentions that Leafs president and CEO Tim Lieweke has met with the players. That's interesting...
