Basically  I almost feel like I'm watching this team ironically at this point.

i had not noticed this quote from kadri until just now

Chris Johnston ‏@reporterchris 22h
Nazem Kadri: "Maybe we can afford one more loss. We need some help too."

Ladies and gentlemen, your Toronto Maple Leafs mentality!

Flames are already eliminated, so I wonder how many youngsters will be dressing for tonight's game to get some experience.

Anyone got a roster for the Flames?

What am I missing here? I don't get it.

What he said makes sense to me :dunno:

The mentality in that room should be "we can't lose another game this season". Just like how when they were 5 games into their losing streak, the reaction out of the dressing room was "we're fine, no reason to panic". It's a loser mentality.

You have to admit though, no one loses better than the leafs. ... :) ... :( ...

We can at least pray for a stud draft pick

It's sad, because I almost get the sense that they've gotten used it it now. Like it doesn't spark the fear or pressure in them that they should.

Even now there still isn't a "do or die" mentality for this team? The only time they should even think they can afford a single loss is at the last game of the season when they've locked up a playoff spot. It just reads really badly.

Lots of muscle dressed for the Flames this could be a rough one.

The flames aren't doing very well but I do like their team.

You haven't heard much Feaster hate this year. Perhaps he's not doing such an awful job after all.

If the Leafs won all 6 games they would still need help as they don't control their own fate.

If Toronto won 5 then Detroit would need to win 3 of their last 7 and Columbus 4 of their last 8 equal or less than .500 hockey for both teams.

its unbelievable :help:

and that's the mentality that they had all season.
like - in that 4 game losing stretch someone had mentioned, "oh we didn't think it was that bad." (I'm pretty sure it was from Kadri too, but it was echoed from a lot of players).

I get that the tropes are always spoken during losing streaks - the don't get too high, don't get too low, yes, we need to work harder, yahadayadayadayada. but there are some comments that just allow you to see a peek of what the mindset of the team is. that's one of them. Why is Kadri saying that? How can you think with 6 games left you can 'still afford a loss." you couldn't afforded a loss EIGHT GAMES AGO. maybe one or two. - but holy smokes. it's not like the team is collecting loser points, and even then "oh yah, we need help but we can totally lose and still be okay.

Yah, no bud.

Exactly. When you lose too much, it becomes a habit no matter how talented the players are. It needs to be corrected, whether its by getting a new coach or new players, but the overall mentality of this team has to change or we'll be having a lot more leaf players saying what Kadri said.
