It's not for me that I want them to win tonight, it's for all future Leaf fans who will be creating a special memory with their friends and family. I was lucky to have these memories with my grandfather. He had just immigrated from Italy, yet took to this game like it was in his DNA. I too became fanatical, too young to remember much of the '67 championship, but Lanny Mcdonald against NYI, Gilmour against St. Louis, Mogilny and Sundin at the turn of the century...all precious memories. I'll have my entire family with me tonight, may another memory be created. Go Leafs Go!!!!!!!!!!!

Going to the game tonight. So pumped. Was talking about it with my wife last night and laughingly she said “I think we just started dating after the last time the Leafs made it to the 2nd round. Maybe it’s my fault ha ha……….hon I’m joking why are you looking at me like that?”
Leafs win the game....

This man gets a divorce though after the wife reluctantly goes.

We shall honor for your sacrifice.

yea I was in my last year of High school when they last won a round was full of hope back than that they were going to win a cup soon! lmao!
I was in Grade 11! Now 35 and been living a ways away from home for the past decade, with 12am and later start times. Rarely missing a game while still holding down a regular 9-6 job (w/ 5 hours of sleep).

Something feels different about this year's team. In the type of headspace at the minute where if they win a couple of rounds I am catching a flight to the city of their Round 3 opponent to watch a game (I know this ain't happening at the ACC) followed by some time to soak in the atmosphere at home. Let's see- fingers crossed this becomes a possibility in the weeks to come.

I expect the scoring to get lower and the checking tighter but Leafs seem to have Vas number. particularly this year and what previously felt like an unmovable wall now seems to have its cracks.
They had his number last year until elimination. Far too many people are acting as if Vasi pulling a Murray impression for the rest of the series is a given.

I think 2004 was their last shot for a while, everybody knew that. People knew that there is most likely a lockout looming and nobody knew what the landscape would be with a new cba. There was a lot of uncertainty.

I mean game 4 is certainly not an approach I would want to replicate for my own health but I straight up do not think we got dominated in that game. Game 3 and 4 were entirely different things all together. Tampa dominated us in the 1st period and parts of the 2nd. We ran their asses out of the building in the 3rd and OT. That wasn't hanging on for life and hoping to steal a win we went and got that.
True, game 3 and 4 were quite different. Game 3 we got outplayed pretty thoroughly, got quite lucky to win. Game 4 started out terribly, we got dominated in the 1st period, but when Keefe made the line changes early in the 2nd things switched. The 2nd was pretty even, and we did dominate the 3rd and OT.

Still, it was a miraculous comeback - we were down 4-1 with ~10 mins left, it's extremely, extremely rare you win games in those situations. If we were consistently outplaying Tampa, had games well under control, I'd get the "don't change a thing" mentality from Keefe. But we aren't, there was a huge amount of luck involved in the game 3 and 4 wins, and overall Tampa have outplayed us at even strength in games 3 and 4 combined. I personally think we should be looking to change things, at least a bit (e.g. Holl out/Lily in, and ZAR out/Bunting in).

The playoffs are too important to be playing a less-than-our-best lineup, and I do think that's what Keefe is doing right now with Holl over Lily, and ZAR over Bunting.

All of it, for sure.

Ya, it feels like we got something going here. Tonight we get the King Kong monkey off our back and I wonder how we look next round not clenching the sticks so bad?

Then I sit here and realize just how close and how little there is in winning and losing some times.

If in game #3 there isn't a quick Ref whistle on the Point goal that would have made it 4-2 at the time there wouldn't have been any OT nor Leafs win.

If game #4 if Matthew Knies doesn't pull a rolling puck of the Leaf goal line with inch to space, and TB scores again Leafs lose game #4 and are now down 3-1 as opposed to leading.

If Bunting doesn't get himself suspended for his illegal hit to the head is Knies even in the line-up and in position to pull the puck out of what would have been a sure goal?

Just a few examples among many that has fate putting the Leafs season in a different and finally the right side of the winning ledger.

BWO forever . :)

Our numbers in closeout games since 2013 are terrible. 0W and 10L, 20 something goals for, 40 something goals against, PP has been virtually invisible.

Still on vacation, but they've won the last two I've been down here, so... I'll have a mai tai for the group.

Time for this roster to show they've learned something from last year.

I told my wife, I’ll be taking off at least a week off work just for celebrations alone. She laughed… I said you think I’m joking? Screw work! If the Leafs win the Cup ahhhh I don’t have the words to describe what it would mean to me and you and all Leaf fans. You would have to soak it all in and enjoy

?

I'm not one of those for sure not.

I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched, and all to familiar with how Vas in series deciding games has performed the past 3 playoff seasons.

Until the Leafs beat him and lost 2-1 in game #7, he had posted like 6 straight shutouts in series clinching games prior of the way to 2 Stanley Cups.

They always say winning the 4th game is the hardest in a series so I'm not expecting this to be easy and actually more nervous as a result in this one then past games.

Agreed the problem was 4 years later we thought we were going to compete for the cup again and all of those players at the time turned out to be mostly bums (sorry boys). Then the 2010's happened and somehow got even worse.

f*** we've been through a lot as a fanbase

I'm expecting an extrememly difficult game, especially if Tampa scores early.

I am expecting to lose, badly. Like another 7+ goals against.

If the boys came out and beat Tampa handidly I'd be speechless

Ha, I'm in the same boat. Started dating fall of 2004. Son is now 11 and already getting cynical!! (that's him in the picture!)
