The problem is our elite players dont have any guts to go to the dirty areas and win the battles. They are scared and it shows.

It is the same story for all our play-offs with this core, not willing to sacrifice. Cant win in the playoffs without it.

Leafs are a better team on paper than last year and Tampa is worse...yet the leafs are getting dominated more than last.

Is it the coach? Is it the players? We don't know... Dubas didn't make a change. So we are in a limbo.
Yeah, I'm not sure how these guys look worse. It's embarrassing really. It does feel like last year's team was actually better if they just had a goalie.

Ok fine. But to say Dubas didn't make a change? That's nuts.
He's only ever changed the bottom six... the rest of this team has been pretty much the same. Core 5 (Reilly, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Matthews) and the same Coach. The leafs problem is either their core or their coach.

Bright side? The Leafs were pretty good defensively 5v5 except for like a 1 minute breakdown on that Killorn chance, and the goal shortly after. Not to mention it's *only* 2 goals. Not so bright side? They were lost in transition besides Knies and Marner. If Tavares keeps refusing to use Nylander in the neutral zone, you HAVE to separate them. They created nothing, and it's because they pretty much couldn't enter the zone at all.

If I'm Keefe I'm moving Nylander and Accari (or preferrably Jarny, but I doubt it), and I'm debating on rotating the LW spot with JT-Accari until something clicks. Use the 4th line as sparingly as possible. As for the defense, start actually connecting on some breakout passes and stop crumbling under pressure with one forechecker.

I get that nothing is working, but for a good forecheck all you have to do is skate f***ing hard, yet we are doing nothing.

What the f***?

Also f*** Keefe for that 2nd line. That shit never ever worked.
Hard to tell if nothing is working when we've never really tried anything different so far this series. It's like Keefe thinks he has to lock in his playbook before the series starts.

Dude literally breaks his stick crosschecking our player and nothing is called

Also love how he's crawling to the bench like he got shot 5 min earlier

Point too with the theatrics last game then he's fine

Reminds me of the Paul Pierce wheelchair

Matthews and Marner showed what losers they truly were in the MTL series.

That should have been the end of this core.

At least this is guaranteed to be the final straw.

Honestly they might win the series, but they aren't doing any real damage. Game 4 and a chance to go up 3-1, all the pressure is on Tampa, and these guys look like they should be battling for a lottery pick.

Almost better to lose now, and blow it up. Matthews/Marner era is great for regular season excitement and not much more.

I wish this was the problem. They can’t even get out of our side of the red line let alone into the dirty areas lol

I think Matthews has lost every puck battle he's been in tonight.
The X factors for me tonight were Kucherov and Matthews, both hadn't really done much so far in the series, Kucherov had a fantastic period, Matthews hasn't found his stride yet.
