If people liked how Pacioretty played at the end where he sat on the outside and took every shot he could possibly take.. they'd like Gauthier.

Great player but not without massive headaches.
100%

Yet somehow the narrative being pushed by the media and people across social media is that he is this unique power forward the Habs have desperately needed for decades. I'm not sure where that comes from.

His toolset is very interesting but he's a moody player and he takes a lot of shifts off. And it's quite obvious to anyone who watched a single game of BC in the past season and a half and even the USDP back then.

So it means that both Hughes and Brière wanted Reinbacher more than Gauthier?

No it doesn't mean that, as Brière tried to sign Gauthier but he refused to sign so then you have to trade him. I live near philly and from what I heard it had more to do with their HC who did not get along with Kevin Hayes.

In the NCAA it's very common that players from the same school will be supportive of their fellow alumni. Hayes says the rumors aren't true but I would bet it had something to do with him not wanting to sign there. It has been said Gauthier has an issue with them for not signing him after last season and that's why he changed his mind on why he refused to sign with them.

I think the flyers staff were thanking God that gauthier just lead the WJC in points. It caused a big value spike and allowed them to move him for a top young dman + pick because gms salivated. They moved him at exactly the right time.

Cutter been great, I'd offer on him. He's one of top players ever in Boston College. Better numbers than guys like Boldy.
