If the issue is JT Miller, kinda explains why the Rangers didn't keep him and why he always seems to be available despite producing.

There was a lot of smoke around him when he played for NYR. It’s possible he matured but who knows. The Rangers had seemed destined to move him at some point and seemingly had no interest committing to him long term and being a part of the build. Obviously, the NYR have a new GM now but if he really was an issue then I can’t see them revisiting that. It probably wouldn’t be good for Miller or NYR.

Would love to see Horvat in Boston. They have a need at Center and I think he could be a great fit in their culture. Play a solid two way game with good leadership skills matched with their skilled wings like, Marchand, Pastrnak, Hall and Lysell.

Boston would have to give up Lysell in a package to get Horvat.

I dont think any team will give the Canucks any asset to take OEL especially since OEL has a no trade clause and was only willing to go to Van or Boston.

Having said that, he is a very important player for the Canucks.

He played top pairing role this season and was excellent. He was also very very good when put into offensive role when Hughes had to miss a few games.

Its only year one but he definitely lived up to the 7.2 AAV this season.

now can he live up to it for 6 more seasons? doubt it but 1 year at a time.
I will agree that OEL hasn’t been the issue this season and that there’s almost no chance he gets moved (he won’t waive/ contract anchor)… However, to say he’s lived up to his $7.2M contract is a bit much. Let’s just say if he had Myers contract, there would be less complaining. It’s still early so let’s see what he does the next few seasons though.

Horvat, quietly had one of his best seasons as a Canuck. And is also our captain. I won’t say he’s untouchable as there’s always an asking price…. But I highly doubt he is the one to get moved.

I agree with some that said miller will be the one to go. Think it’s pretty evident he has no intentions of resigning. Would also say one of Boeser/ Garland could also be moved. And hoping we can “get rid of” poolman/Dickinson/Myers (one or all). This would be huge in clearing out cap space.

To Detroit - Bo Horvat and Oliver Ekman-Larsson
To Vancouver - 2022 1st #9 Overall

To New Jersey - Jt Miller and Tyler Myers
To Vancouver - 2022 1st #6 Overall

Open up tonnes of capspace.
Detroit and New Jersey easily reject both offers. They don’t even consider them. Silly silly proposals here. Totally nonsensical as a thesis for those two rebuilding teams and you’re way off on value as well. JT Miller is now just rental and Horvats value drops dramatically if you attach him to OEL. Ditto JT Miller to Myers.

I don’t think jersey would trade 6th OA for JT Miller. Don’t think Detroit trades 9th OA for Horvat either. And that’s after removing the contract dumps.

I don't get this Hamonic "issue" He has been a great addition in Ottawa, makes me think he was just a scapegoat for other leadership issues.
well he held out due to refusal of vaccine after team got hit really hard year before(sutter still out from it). when he eventually showed he wasnt near game shape, then got injured soon after that because of this.

this hurt the team play wise more than people realize as the canucks had so many new dmen to the system(oel, hunt, burroughs, rathbone, juuolevi, keeper that had to learn greens stupid system) and someone familiar with it would have helped stabilize it.( while its not all his fault you could say its a contributing part of them not making the playoffs).

think a bunch of players saw it as a big f*** you to them

Miller isn't going to return as much as most posters here are thinking. He also isn't even a feasible fit on as many teams as those same posters are thinking. Only way Miller really has value now is if he's a rental. Teams that are interested in him for the long run can just try to sign him without paying assets. Not really a great situation here.

I don’t agree, lots of teams trade for a star player then extend him ie. stone.

If they manage to squeak into the playoffs of this impressive run, and then do a partial tear-down this summer because there are too many "chill" guys in the locker room, they deserve to fail moving forward. They aren't far off from having a really good team. The guy I could see being most likely to be moved is Miller if they think he wants to much for an extension, or doesn't want to play there long term. There should be plenty of interest in a lot of other guys though.
Just keep Boudreau to combat the "chill". He'll get a fire roasting under their butts.

No from Minnesota.
Exactly...we've seen what happens to Garland when he gets hit. Fiala might be only 5'10" (2" taller than Garland), but weighs 205. He is very well put together, like Kaprizov, and hard to hit. Garland is game but folds like a cheap suit when hit. He is a good player, but nowhere near as talented as Fiala.

lmao.

Depends what you think most posters are thinking of the return.

Even as a rental, what do you think a 90-100 point power forward will get the Canucks at the TDL?

its easily a 1st and top prospect even if its just a rental next March.

If Miller is available this summer there will be a lineup of teams looking to acquire him, especially with his 5 mil AAV and a chance to sign him long term. He can fit many agendas:

1. a rebuilding team thats ready to compete and needs a centrepiece: Ottawa, Detroit, Bufallo, LA

2. an All in team wanting to take advantage of their cup window: Col, Pitt, etc.

My point is he 29 yr old power 90-100 point player on a ridiculous bargain of a contract. Teams will make room for him cap wise if they really want him.

If Canucks do decide to move him, then they are in a fantastic position to start their retool with a bang.

No thanks on Fiala for Horvat.

Nothing against Fiala, I'd much rather have what Horvat brings and the style of play that I think will be more effective come playoff time when it matters.

Boston would have to give up Lysell in a package to get Horvat.

No thanks on Lysell as the centre piece for a Horvat trade.

Lysell Garland Pettersson Hoglander Boeser

thats as soft as it gets.

I'd like to build a roster that would be tough to play against in the playoffs.

If were moving Horvat id like to target a high potential young Dman or a Centre that can replace Horvat's production in 2-3 years.

We have enough Lysell's in our system
