Ok, now you can **** right off.

Haha. It's my favorite benefit. Makes such a huge difference, honestly. Although it's hard to have a favorite benefit with this company.

And like you, though, it has been a long 10 years of working lots of hours in shitty positions to get to where I'm at.

That's huge. I pay double what you do to cover my family and I and still have a $1,500 deductible. What you're paying and what you get is damn near unheard of. Good for you.

I hear it all the time. I had never seen anything like it in any previous job I've ever worked in, either. I'm extremely lucky for it. This company definitely takes care of their employees. I've had 10k in raises in the two years I've been here, 5k each year. Plus a $1000 bonus. Plus we do profit sharing every December as a Christmas bonus, based upon time with the company. Every month with the company is $19 in profit sharing as a Christmas bonus.

Nice company.

Literally no one I know works under 50 hours a week and we all do well. Maybe it is my industry but my wife works for an accounting firm and she 50+ hours a week as well.

Opposite for me. I can’t think of any friends I have that regularly have to work well beyond 40 hours.

My wife is a staff accountant and she probably works closer to 35 a week for a top tech company out of Silicon Valley.

For benefits we pay virtually nothing for top tier coverage. I think we pay maybe $50 a month for the two of us combined.

Just weird. Maybe it is the field. I am in consumer goods (previously food) and how much I work is the norm.

I think if you took a larger sample size nationwide you'd find more people working over 40 per week than not. That's my guess, anyhow.

That’s a tough one. I hope you’re right. I tend to think people here are top tier based on what you guys have written.

I'd actually rather be wrong. It sucks that so many people have to work so many hours per week as the norm. The more people that can work a "normal" work week the better and not be slaves to their jobs the better. Even if you're pulling big money, if you're working 70 hours per week to earn it, what time do you have to really enjoy any of it? At least that's how I'd feel.

And agreed again.

Probably. When we moved we made sure to stash enough in savings so we could be patient and find the right jobs and not get stuck living to work.

Smart move.

I work a lot of hours but never miss life events or even the little things. All about balancing everything for me (and my wife). I work a lot with Asia so I save a lot of time working at night after my kid and wife go to bed. Since I do this I have a lot of flexibility during the day if I need to leave early or come in late.

I took a little less where I am now but I get out at 4 at the latest every day and still have plenty of time to go ski, hike, cycling, etc. Totally worth it.

I need to get out of this thread..... I am fine heading into the "real world" here soon, because it's just that time in my life... but I still want to enjoy these last few weeks and not having anything to do until 2:30 on Tuesday and Thursdays and just class from 10-12:45 on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

Graduating will definitely be bittersweet. I am going to miss all the day naps and random stuff I do, but I'm also ready for it to be over as well and some more stability - as well as actually being able to afford things and not worrying every time I spend $20.

Railroad living. Lots of mandatory OT. Full coverage for me and mine, BCBS, vision and dental that I pay nothing for.

Was offered a position in entry level management, but that's like a 20k paycut for me and it takes a decade plus to move up unless you know somebody. I've got Sunday-Monday off on afternoons, had Sat-Sun last year. All seniority based. Easy work too once you've got seniority, I basically operate a million dollar Xbox.

But we're 24/7 365. Every holiday I'm there.

On my way back to reality after a weekend in Milwaukee with the girl. Had a blast. Trunk full of spotted cow.

I gotta say, hipsters got avocado toast right. Been sleeping on that.

Didn't even realize it started this year (with how warm it was around here - though I'm not sure if you're even from around here now that I'm tying this out).

I’m in Salt Lake City now, haven’t lived in Chicago in a almost 10 years now.

People here have to request OT and if they don’t and go OT they get written up. That goes for salaried employees too.

Honestly, I'll work whatever hours if it can somehow get me around.....oh I don't know... $1.2MM dollars by the time I'm 50 so I can sail off in the sunset.

Sell my place in Dallas. Move to low cost of living near a Costco. Nice warm weather. I could dig that.

Student loans put me back like 5 years.

I work anywhere from 30-70 hours a week, generally in the 40-50 hour range. I do get 6 weeks of PTO though. I've also been working from home for the last 2 years which is the best.
