They really need to refurbish the roads and bridges in this country. That should never happen.

Wow. State of Florida is gonna get sued into oblivion.

Probably FIU actually

Its engineering department designed the method used to build bridge

First-of-its-kind pedestrian bridge "swings" into place

The 174-foot, 950-ton section of the bridge was built adjacent to Southwest Eight Street using Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) methods, which are being advanced at FIU's Accelerated Bridge Construction University Transportation Center (ABC-UTC). This method of construction reduces potential risks to workers, commuters and pedestrians and minimizes traffic interruptions. The main span of the FIU-Sweetwater UniversityCity Bridge was installed in a few hours with limited disruption to traffic over this weekend.

Yeah that picture really highlights how horrific this was. From helicopter shots initially you didn't see all these vehicles pancaked underneath just the partial one's

Same, first shots I saw were from the sky. I didn't know there were cars under it. Thought the casualties being referred to were just pedestrians on the bridge itself. How awful.

It's been mentioned elsewhere her but FIU is going to be successful sued into oblivion for this. With this having just been dedicated a couple of days ago CLEARLY there is major, major fault here in design, construction, or all of the above. What a nightmare.

Jesus Christ... That is absolutely horrible.

What was wrong with the old kind of bridge?

These kind of tragedies really make you take a step back and understand how precious every day of life is.

Just another symptom of “progress” by fixing something that wasn’t broken in the first place. Cure cancer, yeah, that makes sense. Accelerated Bridge Construction as a means to prop up a clearly failing engineering program at a college, no thanks. Even without hindsight, reading that article, they completely changed the design to something new just to avoid the temporary inconvenience of a detor. Then proceeded to pat themselves on the back for this incredible feat of engineering. Unbelievable that this happened and of course it happens when there are people everywhere around it. So sad and needless.

If last tweet is true we will be seeing a criminal investigation opened. Surely no one could justify a stress test with cars stopped at a red light under bridge (It reportedly collapsed upon cars during red light)

Road should have been temporarily closed if they were running stress tests

Almost unbelievable they would do a stress test with the road open, and cars allowed to be underneath it. This was entirely preventable if that's the case...

On a more positive note, the recent drop of Hailstorm's Cumulus Northeast style IPA is outstanding. Highly recommend grabbing a 4 pack before they're gone folks. :thumbu:

Ordered a package that was suppose to be delivered last Monday, and paid for expedited shipping.

Driver didn’t even attempt to deliver it, saw he couldn’t get in building and didn’t try and call us or use callbox.... and he was delivering before the hours he’s technically allowed to deliver during. He called me late Monday night to say he couldn’t get in that morning (this is USPS, btw, calling me from a cell phone number from some Caribbean island).

No big deal, he’ll deliver it Tuesday. Nope.

Ok now I’m annoyed, he will deliver it Wednesday, I can live with that.... Nope.

Thursday no update.

Friday morning my package is in.... Miami. Out for delivery.

Ok now I’m f***ing pissed and want my money back, and now won’t have something I needed for a trip next week.

Does anyone here have pc expertise? I'm a Mac guy, but i have a dead pc laptop from which I'm trying to access some files. I extracted the hard drive, connected it to an external hard drive reader, connected it to my iMac, but I'm still having trouble locating them. If anyone can help, please pm me.

get a hirens disk and use it. i do not know if it will work with a mac.

if you have another pc windows computer, take out the hd and connect it via as a slave or as a usb 3 docking station. then start the computer with the hirens disk and you should be able to see all the files, plus your profile.
