NFL: Antonio Pierce fired

Guards, just the fact that they can't secure first downs on short yardage is an issue. Maybe an upgrade at RB is what they need or secure a long term solution at LT if Miller is beginning to break down vs play to his mid 30's. They won't draft a OG in round 1. Depending on need, or Miller's health, can see them going OL in round 2 or 3.

Brady, not getting involved in the scouting. I think at most he'd attend both QBs pro day and be in on their meetings to give his feedback. Offer what he thinks of them. Aside from that, he's not going to PSU to meet with Carter or watch him workout, same with McMillan. WIll leave that to GM and scouts.
That's true about the Guards although I doubt it would've been as much of an issue if we still had Jacobs playing RB. They should at least bring someone in to compete for a starting spot though. It's unfortunate they gave Andre James an extension last year as he'll leave about $5.5m in dead cap. Still saves a few million so might as well cut him.

That sounds about right regarding Brady. Can't see him getting real involved. Telesco and co will be doing most of the work. Hopefully Davis doesn't have any say.

What is sad, and what also shows how bad an owner Davis is, I think all of Gruden, McDaniels, Pierce would have a contract that runs next season including the new HC in 2025. I know Gruden did a buyout or something but his deal normally would have gone through to 2025. Hired in 2017 so his deal was to go 10 years to 2026 season.

Mark Davis is a terrible owner handling football operations, he handles this like it's his toy to play with. Ever since Al Davis passed away, Mark has been just bad at everything regarding the on field and off field decisions.

Gruden was a mistake, McDaniels was a joke, Pierce was just awful all together.

Spot on. But, no way would Wash move off the #2 pick.

Kliff was still getting AZ HC money, so unless his HC deal was expiring after 2025 season, he didn't need it to run to 2026 as I would assume he had offset language to reduce AZ's financial burden for any job he got.

But, maybe that was the case.

But, it's all on Mark Davis. Since taking over in 2011 when Hue Jackson was HC, he hired full time:

Dennis Allen, who last 2 years and 4 games
Del Rio who lasted 3 years
Gruden 3 years and 3 games before the emails
McDaniels who lasted under 1.5 years
Pierce who got a full season following his interim gig.

So, is it the HC or the Owner here?

He’s sold off a lot of the raiders. Think he’s down to under 20% for sure maybe closer to 10% but he owns the interest that keeps him in charge of operations.
He can now spread the cost of all of those old HC into other people.

Guy is clueless.

raiders had a good thing going in 2016 and instead of keeping the pieces together, del rio let bill musgrave (who was responsible for that great offense) go in favor of todd downing and ended up losing the locker room

seems like any time the raiders have had some success over the last 20+ years, they've shot themselves in the foot and gone back to square one

How you change up a 12-4 staff is crazy. They were going well til game 15 when Carr broke his ankle on a sack given up by Penn. could have won the division or at least with Carr have a shot to beat Houston.

Then things going well at like 3-0 with Gruden in year 4 then the emails are leaked. Just his….. we never hear about any replies from the people he sent them to.

But make the PO with Rich and decide to dump him for McDaniels of all people….. like how do you come to that conclusion?
Then you try to right a wrong by hiring Pierce because the players wanted him like they wanted to run with Rich B.

he did a good job after taking over for gruden, but i don't think bisaccia was the long term answer at HC for them. he's a career special teams coach (and a pretty good one)

pierce was a bad hire, but i don't see how any coach could've had success with this raiders team

Letting go of Bill Mushrave was a Derek Carr move. Todd Downing was the QB coach at the time so Carr pulled his way to promote Downing to OC.

That was a mistake, Downing had no f***ing clue how to run an offense but Carr was behind his boy and it backfired badly.

Pierce was a bad hire because Mark wanted to right a wrong by not hiring bisaccia but going with Josh. Rich was loved by the players.

But, the old 2 wrongs don't make a right applies here. No do-overs.

Mark just needs to step aside as have someone else handle the coaching hire. Let TT, Tom, Seymour, anyone else but himself be part of the search. Money isn't an issue not with the private equity firms buying into the team. Already going to basically pay 3 fired HC in 2025.

Imagine letting Derek Carr of all people dictate your decision making. Embarassing.

And look what that got Carr. No PO wins. Just 1 PO appearance for the rest of his career to date. Too many people jump to his defense of a bad organization, but if he was the one who pushed for change coming off a career season that was completely foolish on his part.
Downing showed no progression following becoming Raiders OC.

Plus, why bend to a guy coming off his 3rd NFL season?

Too many people jump to his defense of a bad organization,

Those are CARRdashain’s, always defend him due to bad organizational shit buy bring up his stats. There was some long ass Reddit thread that listed Carr stats to Mahomes, saying how Carr beats him in pass per attempts by .8 points.

CARRdashians will say ‘LOOK SEE! His stats say otherwise!!!’

f*** Carr, bitch ass trick. Costs the Raiders numerous years of productive seasons.

Everything is so bad with this franchise since the 2002 SB loss to TB.

Al picking first round bust after first round bust.
Coaching carousel.
First season of success under Del Rio since SB loss, they lose Carr late in season and get beaten by Osweiler and Texans.
Then, listen to Carr (3rd year QB) to change OC. What?
Drop the next season to then hire Gruden.
Gruden, picking first round busts again.
Emails come out but only on him.....
Make PO only to pass to then hire McDaniels.
Again with the HC changes....

All while leaving Oakland for LV, but no home field advantage.

2010 and 11 raiders were decent

i believe 2010 team is the only team to ever go undefeated in the division and still miss the playoffs. same year the chargers somehow missed the playoffs despite having the #1 offense and defense in the league

2011 team was 7-4 before jason campbell got injured. then they traded for carson palmer and went 1-4 the rest of the way. jackson was fired by the new GM after that season and things went right back to shit with dennis allen as HC
