We don't stand a chance. "Never say never", "anything can happen if you just get in", no.

Come on AKL, where's your positivity? Sometimes what you need is "a chip, a chair, and a chance", because "sometimes the blind squirrel finds a nut", and never forget that "every bear with a woodland for a head has its day".

Not worried about this at all. He’s almost done nothing in Carolina.
This is a blindingly absurd take.

Sure he’s got 6 points in 13 games but have you looked past this and checked into how he’s actually playing or why his production could be down?

His even strength possession stats are off the charts. His CF% is by far the highest on Carolina, and his relative CF% is an even a bigger gap. His FF% is 2nd highest on the team.

He’s a 28YO who’s a career point per game player, with a career shooting percentage of 16.1 %. In Carolina, it’s 5%. You can do the math. Dallas landing him long term is definitely something to be terrified of. I get you have an obsessive need to defend GMBG, but the GMs in this division are skating circles around him.

Let’s wait and see what Dallas trades for Rantanen. We just witnessed the Avalanche overpay for Nelson.

Totally fair but saying Rantanen has done nothing is just ridiculously incorrect regardless. He’s not a player we want to see 5 times per year and potentially early in the playoffs. He’s 4th in the league in scoring over the last 4 years (cumulatively) and is 28 YO.

I assume Wyatt Johnson is going back but the rest of the details will be interesting.

Didn't Johnson just sign a long term contract with them, or was that just speculation?

Rumor was he turned down 8 years with an AAV a little over $8M.
Well.. that would be one reason to move him, but also a reason for CAR to be wary of acquiring him. Still is on his ELC, so they can kick the contract can down the road.

Wonder when/if the Jets are going to do something?

Well, as we sit here 7 hours from the deadline, I’m thinking we don’t do much of anything today. I just don’t think we have the trade capital to move to acquire a top 6 player, even if we did put KK or EEK on LTIR. I think any deal is probably similar to what we did last night.

Having said that, there are two players on the Sabres I’ll be keeping an eye on. I would like to get my hands on Ryan McLeod or Jiri Kulich. Both are centers with size who can also put the puck in the net a little. McLeod is also a pretty good face off guy. It wouldn’t be cheap, and I think either would cost you Ohgren, but I like both of these players.

Sounds as if the deal is contingent on Rantanen signing an extension. If he was going to land there this summer anyway, best to happen now and continue to remove some depth from that organization. If the best piece moving is Stankoven, Stars need to do that trade all day.

EDIT: AS I HIT SEND IT SOUNDS AS IF IT BROKE OFF. lol

Will be interesting to see if the market starts to pivot to Boeser who is now likely one of the best forward options out there. Costs seem to be much higher than recent deadlines but still think he’s a long ways from a Nelson level player.

Watch Guerin swoop in on Rantanen. Then we’ll get the usual Guerin speak around an extension something along the lines of “I don’t give a shit about an extension right now. We’ll see what we can do while he’s here. I just know we can use him right now and that’s my focus.”

With what assets would Minnesota be trading?
