Put this guy in a cab straight from the Staples center directly to Bakersfield, please. Too slow for the NHL, too many dumb penalties. Ugh.

Agreed. Tired of watching this guy do nothing.

I can't believe what's happened to his game. He had a great year last year, and was on fire in the preseason. And then he completely ***** the bed. I can't believe how slow he looks out there! Always a step behind. So frustrating.

He was showing such offensive promise last year...really thought he'd be a 30-40 point guy.

This guy has totally lost his mojo. Looked good last season and finally seemed like he had turned the corner. What is going on?

Like goal scoring and all that I could care less about as that was going to be just a bonus with him. What he was supposed to do was play solid defensively and win face offs. Basically, be the number 3 centre on our team.

With Draisaitl showing the ability to center a line, Lander will be pushed down the depth chart to his appropriate spot on the fourth line when McDavid returns. The top three lines could all be our first line on any given night.

Hall - Draisaitl - Purcell
Pouliot - McDavid - Yakupov
Korpikoski - Hopkins - Eberle
Hendricks - Letestu - Lander

actually, you need your 3C to get u some points. In the 30-40 range, 12 to 17 goals. Even your 4C has to pitch in with at least 8g and 22pts.

You can't have a centre that can't get you a single point in a quarter of the season.

I'll be pissed if he's playing the next game after basically screwing the Oilers out of a point last night at least.

With how many injuries and illnesses the Oilers have... they may have no choice but to play Lander instead of pb him. Of course they don't play again until Wednesday so hopefully someone comes back in by then and Lander can eat popcorn for a game.

I wouldn't be against Khaira/Yakimov getting a look for a few games as well. They haven't exactly been ripping it up in Bakersfield but they couldn't be worse than Lander right now.

I'd rather give Miller some centre ice time. Lander needs to sit.

Finally came around on the guy and then he returns to his crappy form. Hopefully he can turn it around, can't exactly keep a guy in the lineup who's only thing he adds is faceoff wins.

"Oh what went wrong! What possibly went wrong!?"

Todd Nelson left. /end

was Nelson coaching him in preseason when he let the entire league in scoring?
Something in his head has switched off or maybe he isnt being used the same way.

Preseason goals are zero indication of scoring ability as we've seen countless times with various players. Some of those goals were long range bombs that were very suspect goals let in by AHL or Junior goalies.

Lander has had one very limited sample of production at this level. Under Nelson. Other than that its been dry as a desert.

I do wonder as well whether Drai's play has blown Lander out of the water. He and his agent might be wondering if there is any place here. The reality is Lander is a footnote here and not a very good one.

I am still hoping that Drai is meant for much more than what Lander was expected to bring. I don't see them competing for the same position.

I still think Lander is worth waiting for and I am sure that there is a 3C in there despite his disappointing season so far. I'd maybe sit him for a couple of games right now though, maybe give him a couple of hours with the team's shrink... He is just not doing the same things this season as the last, for whatever reason. I think and hope he gets around, but if not this will be his last season in EDM. I don't think he will be traded or waived this season.

I'm rarely inclined to move players hastily or make decision on them too quickly. Except in the case of obvious non NHL players which theres been a lot of through the years on the Oilers.

In Landers case there is potential. He has some attributes tht can be helpful at this level. I'd give him some time, but I agree he needs to be watching some games as he looks just off right now. His penalties were also the product of desperation as he tried to sustain offensive zone pressure by tugging guys down. Trying to do too much being a product of frustration. Really hurt the team to do that though. Plus I doubt right now that he would fight his way out of that. I would give him a week or two of watching.

If Draisaitl sticks at center with Hall, then Lander is done, and probably out of the league once McDavid comes back. They'll run McDavid RNH Draisaitl Letestu down the middle, and I just can't see another team taking a chance on Lander at this point (except for maybe Detroit, because of Nelson).

So if Drai is good at center, we push him or RNH to 3c? That doesn't make sense. Running 3 incredible scoring lines is a fantasy and doesn't actually happen.
