Anthony Beauvillier to Washington for 2nd Round Pick

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

We needed a depth piece. Frank or Beauvillier is a better 13F than V. Would have been great if we slipped him through and had a vet to bring up from Hershey if needed, but he got claimed. That is the business side of it.

Sure we overpaid a bit, but actually not bad value given all of the prices. And the things the Caps liked were his pace of play, hit net front presence. Looks like he kills some penalties and one of his highlights was a shorty.

Like @kicksavedave said… he wasn’t brought here to be a difference in a cup or not. Not a cog in the system which is still important and needed.

Great goal. And he looked really fast. With finishing ability, and in closed space.

Really good sign for the playoffs.
you would think Beauvillier will keep getting more comfortable the more he plays. I think they keep him on the fourth line at least through this roadtrip but sometime in March they move him to third line.

I think 72-20-16 would bring some spark and be hard to play against. Won’t be a skill line but sneaky speedy and crash the net line.

I’d like to see
72-20-88
22-26-16

I'd reserve my judgment until it is clear that he's not a plug in whenever someone's injured/needs a rest but a solid lineup mainstay. So far..yeah okay. That said, he's always looked good whenever he played the Caps in the past no matter the score. I feel like he should be playing all the games to the season's finish instead of either Frank/Raddysh.

It seems the overly positive people were well founded. Beauvillier has fit in well. He can play up. Nice piece for late second round.
I def am eating some delicious crow over this trade. Still wish the pick was a 3rd or 4th, but oh well, nbd.

Unrelated, but how do we restore our sponsor status after HF broke a week ago?? These ads are killing me. Thanks in advance...

He has played better then I expected. I still think we over paid.

But the totality of the trade may not be evident yet. If this ends up being a guy that plays this well for us consistently and the offseason chips fall like they very well might, it could be that we keep him. To be clear, a late 2nd for a guy that helps us down the stretch into what could be a deep playoff run is worth it in my book, especially in this draft, but it's a no-brainer if they think there's room for him on the roster next year.

We've got three other starting forwards entering free agency, and who knows what might happen via trade? I know we've got high hopes that prospects might fill all those spots, but it could very well be that Beauvillier sticks around...

If nothing else to have options who we think will work and plug in best. If we plan to keep 2 or 3 of mangi, Eller, dowd, radish, Bville, it’s nice to have first hand knowledge of who/what you want to offer.

I would suspect Mangi and Eller are out. We resign one of Beauvillier or Raddysh. Don’t think we sign both. If we commit to Lappy (again) Beauvillier could play 3C. But Caps love Raddysh. Maybe they can get him a good contract elsewhere or a sign and trade deal.

My thoughts exactly. My guess is that whoever is cheapest of Mangiapane/Beauvillier/Raddysh stays -- that probably will be Beauvillier but you never know!

I’d really like to see Beauvillier play center a couple of games, even if it is just to rest Eller. not saying he needs it but he could sit a couple of games before playoff run. See how he looks at center.

Mangi-Beauvillier-Frank
