Speculation: Another year of this Bluc **** (The 2024-25 season thread)

Fireable organizational defensive depth.

After Anderson or Edmundson gets hurt or next year when Gavrikov leaves it's gonna be extra embarrassing. Alternatively you pay a Gavrikov who suddenly has all the leverage in the world a stupid amount.

I love Doughty as much as anyone but depending on the severity of the injury this could be the beginning of the end for him as far as being a dominant minute munching #1, just like last year probably was for Kopitar.

The depth in and of itself isn’t the issue.

The issue is what it was, and what it was squandered into, and my god it’s abhorrent.

The problem is, if they want to keep QB at center, you're nuetering the Kopitar line. I think it's going to be an on going problem all season trying to find a forward that works on that line with Kopitar and Kempe.

I could see them making a move at the deadline for a winger.

I think Byfield will end up getting used like Draisaitl; when the really need a goal they put him on McDavid's wing.

Might not be much of a problem the way the 2 other lines looked.

Expecialy Fo Fi By

And if they drop off you try one of those other wings and before that you try whatever other wings there are with KnK.

However,

I like the Driasital too.

Seems like Laf previous Corsi was best with Dault. Interesting.

That's where he should be and then TJ gets a go with Kopi.

I suspect it has a lot to do with him being a right shot.

If they were serious about giving Fagemo a chance you'd think he'd be there.
If they were so worried about having a top 6 right hand shot, they shouldve gotten one instead of letting the 2 they had go w no replacement. Force fitting a bottom 6 guy into PP1 based on that isnt exactly inspired thinking. This is reminscent of neglecting the goalie pipeline for 3 years. Based on priors, they probably wont even leverage his handedness in the formation.

I've always said Fagemo is a volume shooter. Him and Clarke a couple days ago was emblematic of what he offers, in my opinion.

He should have been traded before he was waiver fodder.

He didnt really got a shot in Nashville. He came back to the A and got 43 goals in 50 games (19G on the PP). Thats a least worth a look.. not saying that translates, but it makes you wonder if he couldnt be used as a specialist on PP1 esp since he's a RH.

So you are gonna play him 4 minutes a game?

Saying that is the rationale for giving him a spot say on the 3rd line. Similar to how I felt about Durzi, you put up with his poor defense (but hide him on the 3rd pair) since his PP skills are top notch.. The point is, LAK doesnt have shit in the top 6 RH, so instead of using Laf who is offensively impaired, you *try* Fagemo - esp since Kaliyev is out long term.

Having watched Fagemo live in both the NHL pre season and season and also in person in Ontario he just looks average in the show and dominant in the A. Frk 2.0.

Laf is offensively impaired, yet had 12 goals last year....as a rookie.....in his first year pro...

Ok..sure.

Welp, Drew got his ankle surgery today. So possibly back in March, best case. Worst case done for the year.

I think Clarke can mostly replace his PP time, but I’m concerned about his shut-down time.

Thats my take on him too.. BUT, he's never had solid look on the PP or top 6.. maybe he's garbage, but how about give him a shot before you waive him again. I just think they are asking too much of Laf to be line 1 and PP1... anyway, I hope Laf does well.

Yeah, like camp and preseason is precisely the time you should have spots penciled for tryout, particularly when your experienced 60 point right hander just left and you have several young guys vying for it. Instead, as usual, seems the Kings came to camp with the roster written in pen.
