What are you talking about? Last season there was no goalie the likes of Quick or Lundqvist among the worst in the league. So far this year might be a small sample size, but Marty has shown a pattern now of being at the bottom of the league. Even in 2012, the last point in time when he looked decent, he was #34 out of 45 goalies. Among those bottom 12 goalies he played the second most amount of games.

This is the problem. Management thinks exactly like you.

Actually....last season Quick was 34, with a higher GAA and a SV% only. 001 higher

Of course that could be the case. But based not only on the first four games, but in the numbers over the last 4 seasons, it's highly unlikely that Marty plays better than Schneider going forward.

Nobody is arguing that.
Arguing that it's rather unfair how Marty always becomes the whipping boy.

“Right now, it’s Murphy’s Law. Nothing’s going right,†said DeBoer, who might face questions about his job security if the Devils don’t win soon. “We know we’ll come out the other end of it. It’s just we need it to happen now.†- See more at: http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/..._hits_seven_with_5-2_loss_in_ottawa/#comments

Ya, I hope Pete didn't start work on a beach house yet.
I love the guy, and it's not he's a bad coach....but he might well not be the right coach for this team

Fair enough but the previous two seasons he was #5 and #18. He hasn't shown a steady decline the last 4 seasons a la Marty. And he's not 41 years old.

The defense did not look terrible tonight. It wasn't like there were a 100 breakaways. The Sens just shot the puck and it went in tonight.

You're right & the sens saw that too, so did the Devils. Its why at one point Sens were firing shots from the red line. All their shots went in and ours wouldn't go in for anything. We started playing a bit scared and Sens took advantage. We didn't lose this game just because of goaltending though. We couldn't score in the first two periods, that lost the game.

This tells me Deboer's system does not work on this team anymore. It was like this a lot last year too. I consider Anderson a very good goalie, but we sometimes suffer a similar fate against jabroni's like Al Montoya.

If I have to be honest, Anderson was beatable. Our guys just couldn't execute on their chances. Anderson had a solid game, but there were lots of quality chances where we should have just plowed the puck into the net with a poke check or something.

Marty is an old man in his twilight, of course....but he's still a capable goalie, and a bad night not withstanding, is responsible for more good than bad.
Should Cory be moved into the 1 spot this season? Yep. But not because Marty blows, but because Cory is really good and young.
Is their putrid 0-7 start Marty's fault? No.

That's only point I want to make

It's hard to go down two quick goals on soft shots when you're already winless in 6 games; it leaves the team reeling.

I'm done discussing this. Brodeur was horrible tonight, and I think he was biggest issue in this game.

This game yes, I can agree. Overall, no he's been both good and bad. I've been meaning to say overall he hasn't been as bad as people claim.

I would usually agree that it's unfair that Marty has been the whipping boy. So far this season though, I think it's justified. I never wanted to see Hedberg play over Marty, or any of that other stuff from season past. The Marty of this year looks very bad though.

I don't think he looked this bad last year.

See outside this game I don't think he's looked bad, he's looked average. The defense has been really bad though, and and I'd pin the last 3 games on That.
Other teams are literally running circles around them and star offensive players are allowed to take shots at will instead of being neutealized

You're right. He was better last year, even during the 10 game slide. This is partially why I don't want to throw him under the bus after only 4 games, especially the way the team has been playing.

Honestly, whatever gets us wins at this point is all I care, whether its Cory, Marty, or Brodeur Jr I don't care.

I think he's been far below average this year. The defense has not been good either.

They are literally walking right into the slot  Prime scoring chances handed on a silver platter

Really I'm getting to the mind of what will get us to win is speed, we needs it.
Time to play the younger guys more. Throw them in there with the old heads and combine speed and skill. Didn't Larsson look better when things got mixed up? Mix up lines and experiment.....not like he has anything to lose at this point.

We also need beef. We need people that can hit. That can intimidate. We don't have that (seriously look at the hits differential, we are getting rag dolled)

Tonight was the game his critics can hang on him and deservingly so. Most would realize the D in front of him has been horrid up to this point but after this game it's easier to just point the finger and use it as leverage to go where this was heading all along and demand Cory starts from now on and Marty can't handle it.

It's just easier than trying to compare the effort to the stats and have to deal with it later when it's truly all on him and hurts even more.

Opportunity is knocking on Cory's door.
I hope he answers for all of our sakes.

The kids looked pretty good in the preseason. Then the season started and we haven't won since.

And I agree we aren't physical enough, Henrique was knocked down like someone was making a mockery of him in this game.

Well, hopefully Cory wins his next game, and that will open that door.
I'm all for it, we all know the torch is to be passed, so the sooner the better....but it's going to require some W's to really seal that deal.

Hope he gets them, cause I agree we need them Now.
Hell, personally I think if we don't go on a win streak starting time now, we're toast

henrique looks lost out there.

That's kind of a big worry. If his 2012 season was a result of the Palmeirii effect, and he needed to have the likes of Kovy and Parise to make him shine.

It is really starting to feel like those losses were even bigger than a lot of us (wanted to) felt. Heck, even Clarktard's grit could really come in handy right now
