Probably Samsanovs last or 2nd last chance to get it together. Leafs aren’t a good enough team to give any opponents unnecessary advantages if they want to avoid a WC spot or even miss the playoffs period.

Yeah, the sad part is I'm fond of Ilya, but I really don't think he's up to it yet.

He still looks scared to shit, seeing his career vanish before his eyes. I understand he has a wife and young child to support. I surmise that he also has an extended family in Russia, all under sanctions and likely counting on him too in one way or another. Lot of pressure on that young man.

I wish him well, but I'm not counting on much.

This game has potential to be Samsonov's last ever NHL start. If it's so bad that the Leafs have to bury him, his next stop could plausibly be the KHL.
 
I can see Kane having a big game, hopefully Matty can answer. Especially embarassing if we lose today considering the travel problems Detroit incurred

SN Panel just ripping Keefe's dozen+ head-scratching decisions in last night's game. I know we rip on Keefe a lot here questioning many of his decisions, line juggling etc. but when you see a breakdown like this it really hits home. He's just ... bad,

Treliving should have had a talk with him last night or today and asked him to explain some of his decisions. Accountability. This organization badly needs some.

But how does someone like Treliving demand accountability from anyone? He just got here and already has his share of f*** ups. Including the decision to give Keefe an extension. From the top down, this team is filled with incompetent individuals who are in over their heads

I have liked them both so much. They are the exact element the Leafs need which is simple, conservative defensive play along with the stones to play physically to clear the front of the net, grind on the boards and actually hit people. And not what the NHL counters call a hit, either. The real kind.

Its just too bad the Leafs continue to have a huge divide between their skill players and their grit.. almost no one on this lineup is a combination of both which makes them matchup terribly a lot of time.

Keefe seems to be making a lot of short term, anxiety driven, get the point kind of decisions this season. As much about survival mode and just holding onto dear life that any kind of good coaching. He doesn't trust the depth, seems to be clinging to Jones like a life preserver, completely mismanaged the Hildeby call-up with the Anaheim, San Jose games and seems to be shelving Robertson just as he's showing a bit of offense. And what is he doing with Max Domi? He seems intent on tanking that project.

Do you think 13-11-16 (when playing the traditional rules of hockey) is a record to be proud of for a team with SC aspirations ?
