I don't think some of you realize how much ground they have lost this month.

Yup we have lost almost the entire 10.12 point lead we had on the 2nd place in diviion. And now we are in 2nd like multi wins behind.

Its unreal.

Yes those other teams played very very well to catch ip but we gave up/pissed all our f***ing points away. If we won at .500 we would still be OK.

agreed.

The Metro has always been brutal.

Playing catch-up will always result in coming up short.

And this time it would be extremely painful 'cause of how we started and where we'll probably end up.
Adjusting expectations during the season based on a winning streak will always beak hearts.

I’ll put it this way. Right now they are behind the point they were at at this time in 2017-2018 (That team had 47 points on this date vs 46 this year) and that team barely made the playoffs. Of course that team went into th tank right after that, but this team is already playing at that 2nd half level.

The goal post moving has been awful too. Last week it was "well we are only 2 points out of league lead"

Now it's "well if we fall out we will still get back in"

Whats it going to be next month?

It's REALLY hard to regain ground in the NHL because of 3 point games, which the entire Metro almost exclusively plays in EXCEPT us.

We will end up 9th because the Atlantic isn't very good
We just gave up like a 17 point lead to a shitty Washington team in an eye blink. I can’t predict the future but I’m confident we won’t shoot 3% the rest of the year.

we can talk about how much watching these guys has sucked lately without the declarative and condescending “they’re definitely out if it” or “they’re definitely turning it around” arguments - both sides are ridiculous you have no idea what will happen. but they suck now i don’t care if they “outplay” teams if they can’t score goals or prevent goals

That's horrendous considering how they started.

It’s going to be “man those guys were absolutely insufferable when we couldn’t buy a goal. Glad that rough patch is behind us. This is one of the best young teams in the league.”

Can’t wait until we win Friday and then the comments will be “Yeah but the Pens are softer than Boston so it doesn’t count.”
everyone will be happy if they beat pittsburgh. fans don’t want to be pissy and unhappy with their team were desperate for any kind of win

I can assure you I’m sick and tired of watching this team fall apart every December and I can also assure you I don’t want them to fall apart again after being the toast of the league a month ago. It’s not about wanting to be right it’s about watching the all too familiar mistakes and bad breaks and loss after loss that have been non stop for a decade. We don’t want to be right but why would we think anything else right now?
Explain to me how you can assess losing a shit ton of really close, one goal games to the top teams in the league is “falling apart”?

It’s gonna be a lot tougher to maintain a playoff spot than we maybe thought a month ago, I will grant you that. But this is not last year’s team and they aren’t a bad team. Worst I could see them finishing is 9th, which would really really really f***ing suck given the streak and how pumped it made us all. But that still wouldn’t make them a crappy team that’s the same as last year. It would make them a bubble team which is actually still progress, as much as it would hurt to find out in this way.

That would be amazing. It's hard to see where that happens with everyone shooting like shit. A third of our defense out long term, and tank commander Blackwood back
