Two 2nds and Barron is definitely steep. Condition hitting would make it really steep, but also means the NYR made the ECF so...

Disappointed Barron seemed to be on the outs from day 1.

But Copp is a tremendous add. Excited to have him.

Barron along with all those picks. Very steep price, but Barron stings less than Robertson, at least.
I wonder what they did not like about Barron ? Foot speed ? He did not play a lot of hockey last season and not much NHL time this year . They had Gallant a Maritimer and Kelly as well who would be familiar with Barron in all likelihood and then Midgely also from Halifax would also know him......so I guess we will just have to trust their evaluation on him .

I'm okay with Barron as the prospect. I like him, but he'll never be more than a bottom 6 guy.

The conditional 1st I don't like as much, but as others said, if we make it to the conference finals, I won't care. No matter what we'll have at least 1 pick in the first 2 rounds this year. 2 picks if Winnipeg opts for the 2023 2nd rounder.

lol conditions being reached aint steep at all. That means the pick would be 29th? at best. And it means we're going DEEP. Take that any time

I can see Rangers getting passed the Pens in first round, but not sure about the Hurricanes series. If they make it to the ECF....fantastic! If not, at least we get to keep our 1st round pick as a consolation prize
We should petition for getting our own puck if we play Carolina ......at least then we would get more than 5 shots a period LOL....Plus our face off numbers should be improved ! ;)

Really good deal from my perspective. I had a lot of hope for Barron but he just hasn't developed the foot speed to keep up with the NHL game.

A couple seconds we can absorb because we have 3 in the next two years. If the condition is met I'd gladly upgrade a 2nd to the 29th-32nd pick for a crack at the conference final.

Copp is an excellent addition and can really transform our top-9.

I wonder if Kravtsov just punched a hole in his bedroom wall.
He can still come over and go right to Hartford to help the WolfPack in the playoffs . Then he can be a press box guy for us . Him and Gauthier can talk about the price of eggs in China ....or whatever LOL....

I don't like the conditional first, but I doubt this team gets to the conference final and if they do, I'll get over the pick.

I'm really not sold on copp, but it is exciting to add at the deadline again and gear up for a playoff run!

Barron wasn't making this team and we have Cuylle and Berard and Othmann all on the way with only a few spots open on the team. It's a numbers game and Barron was an odd man out. Kudos to him as a 6th rounder for making it and becoming something of value for us to use in a trade like this.

This is a good trade. The condition stinks but if we make the ECF I don't give two shits about that pick especially after the insane amount of draft picks we've had in recent years. Plus, you never know what type of deals will be made to get picks back. I could easily see VK getting moved for a high second (a la Lias) that ends up only being 10-15 spots behind where our theoretical first would be.

Overall, good trade. Copp brings a ton of what we actually need on this team as constructed. It's not like Drury just pulled a Sather and went after the biggest name.

Copp, Motte, Vatrano and Braun are all guys who address needs on this team. Most importantly to me with Copp, Motte and Vatrano is that they're all fast skaters who play with pace. Copp is very strong in transition and loves to turn and push the pace, Motte is a very effective forechecker - will be good for the 4th line.

It seems to me Gallant (and possibly Drury) have been trying to upgrade the footspeed of the forward group. Especially in the bottom 6 where forecheck and cycling in the O zone are a must come playoff time. Thus guys like McKegg and Brodzinski won out over Barron.

I like Barron significantly more than Gallant did, but I was a bit worried about his footspeed. I think he'll figure it out though. With Copp, Vatrano and Motte added, the bottom 6 will be a bit faster -- and all guys who can cycle. Bottom 6 (when Kakko is back) now has Copp-Chytil-Vatrano-Goodrow-Motte-Reaves with Gauthier, McKegg, Rooney, Brodzinski as fill ins. That's definitely better depth and hopefully leads to a more effective forecheck. Team really needs it. Also, with Copp and Motte added it may give the squad more PKers. Could mean leaning on the bottom 6 more down the stretch and giving Zib/Kreids slightly less icetime. We'll see. Copp is a good add because of the versatility. Can really move him around the lineup.

That said, Copp almost had another concussion the other day. I really hope he remains healthy because it was a bunch to give up.

Love the addition at this cost, and I really love how it shapes out our roster come playoff time when everyone is back. We have a really balanced lineup, and even with the inexperience, they should make it really difficult for opposing teams. We've rounded our depth perfectly with fast, high-energy players that will improve our team defense and add some elements of being able to attack off the rush.

We paid a lot but I like Copp and think he can replace Strome for less money next year without Panarin missing a beat, and probably make the overall line better. That’s just my hope. For now, we went from no depth to lots of it.

Kreid/Zib/Laf
Pan/Strome/KK
Chytil/Copp/Vatrano
Motte/Good/Hunt/Reaves/Rooney
