I gotta be honest I HATE Lee on the first or second line. He's a solid third liner who's physical and can score 20 a year but he can't pass or shoot much. Does anybody not love him?

Agreed. Lee reminds me too much of Trent Hunter. I know everyone loved him for a bit, but he really was extremely overrated

Regardless of what line he plays one, he is the only player on the team who parks his big frame in front of the net. That's old school hockey and every team needs one of those players. As long as he plays for this team he is going to help.

His low side is Trent Hunter as I stated before. His high side is probably a Scott Mellanby type of player

Give him a bit of a mean streak and I see him as a modern day Rick Tocchet. One of my favorite non-Islanders. I hated and loved him at the same time.

I don't love Lee on the first line, but the first line needs a big body that can work the boards to be effective at ES, and with Okposo down, that means one of Lee, Nelson or Kulemin.

Lee is more offensively skilled than Kulemin and Kulemin works best in a shutdown capacity, and playing Nelson at wing means we don't have a single center with size. While I don't think Lee is ideal for the slot, I think he makes sense in terms of suiting the needs of the first line while also maintaining the 4 effective lines that's been our strength this season.

Hopefully he can do well enough that we don't have to rush Okposo back from injury, as a fully healthy KO in the playoffs would be a huge boon to the team's chances.

Interesting comparison with a player from a different era. I'd love a Tocchet-type, but in this day and age, he'd have to play differently or he'd be suspended.

Like Moulson, Lee was blessed with natural talent. He knows how to score and has tremendous goal scoring instincts. He may be a little slow on the skates, but he'll only get better from here on out. I shudder every time someone mentions that we should trade Lee.

You can tell that Lee thinks the game pretty well. He knows where his assignments are on the forecheck, the backcheck, and in the defensive zone. He's not the liability Moulson was defensively and from a systematic standpoint. He's more valuable along the wall and in the physicality department. If he can improve his skating and shot just a little bit, he's going to have a very solid NHL career ahead of him.

I like his game, just about anywhere in the lineup. Great energy to his game.

Did Lee have any involvement with the football program at Notre Dame? I remember hearing he had to choose at the end of high school if he wanted to play football or hockey? I wonder if the football program ever game him a look.

Which is a huge problem because Hockey is a race? A natural goal scorer, and he saved a goal with his back checking versus the Sabres.

Alison was slow so understand I am not using that to say he sucks. I am a big fan of his but it is what it is. And yes, sometimes hockey is a race for the puck or position.

RFA-to be. He's looking at a $2.5 million annual salary minimum at this rate.

That's about right. Bridge deal or LT, he is 24 already, 25 when next season begins.
If he can pick up a stride he is going to be a stud.

Would love to see Lee get a little more ice time and have him set himself up in the goal crease like Gillies used to do. No I'm not comparing the two, but Lee can be utilized in the same way.

Gillies was more talented and intimidated more, in an era where that meant something, but I see a lot of similarities in board play and getting-to-the-net. Lee has great hands for a player who's 6'3"- 230, a rare commodity indeed.

Lee and Bailey were always my two favourites to play on the top line with JT and KO. The Isles don't have that elite scorer for a 1-2 punch like most teams, but with depth, secondary scoring and rolling 4 lines, they don't need it.

Can't wait for KO to get back and it'll be interesting to see who sticks on the top line.

Guy is going to be good in this league if he continues to use his size to dominate the corners and front of the net, Lucic in the making, minus the bull****. Guys a beast.

I said it when he was a rookie and I still think it stands, I think he will become a poor mans (not in a bad way, still will be a 20-25 goal scorer, just less assists) Brenden Morrow.
