They won't blow it up completely but they will try to move out a few of the contracts for shorter term players in return. Between Engvall, Duclair, Mayfield, Pelech and Pulock i'm expecting some of them to be moved out. Lee and Pageau to stay until the deadline and then moved if the team is out for pure futures (prospects and picks). Cizikas is the only one I cant figure out. He has a $2.5m hit but no trade protection.
The only "veteran" players (minus goalies) i'm expecting them to want to keep are: Barzal, Horvat, Romanov, Dobson, Holmstrom, Tsyplakov and Gatcomb. The other pieces will be the ones changes are made with.
If i'm moving out a contract like Engvall and i'm getting back a $5m player with 2 years left, that's fine but i'm not trading Pageau or Lee to get back a player with 2+ season and a reduced cap hit. That's just terrible mismanagement of the cap and essentially blocking a spot for a young player to step in and prove they can grow.
