I doubt they even get value if they do trade him. Buffalo ended up giving a 3rd round pick for nothing. A 3rd round pick is better than losing him for nothing, but if he turns out to be the player some think he'll be. It's pretty bad in the end. See if he comes to camp and how he reacts then. They still have the best offer, no need to run him out the door yet.

I got a reply later in the day after my post  from a person who read my rant and I'm sure has more knowledge than me. Bottom line was for me to not count my chickens before they are hatched (and that goes both ways) I know what he meant

As for HF it's going to do whsr HF does

Couldn't have been from me because I re-read my text to you and I didn't mention chickens.

And I just re-read your post here and realized it definitely wan't me when I saw this "I'm sure has more knowledge than me."

I'll start to worry 16 months from now, and even then I might not worry

I`m ok with his decision to represent the USA.

Also have no concern about him signing with Boston once that tourney ends and being at camp next year

That's 3 days after he becomes an ufa. You'll still be confident he becomes a bruin after he becomes a ufa?

That's sort of how I feel, but the real key is how B's management feels. If they are still feeling confident they can sign him next year, then I'm not too worried. But who knows how they feel? Can't expect the beat reporters to find out, whether because the management guards its secrets like the Kremlin or because the reporters don't care enough to ask.

Whether he signs with the B's or not, and I sure hope he does, it is disappointing not to have his services during this playoff run.

Kirks response is exactly what I've been saying this entire time. Things change despite what people already "know." Bjork could have loved the Bruins two weeks ago but the people yapping in his ears the last two weeks could have changed that.

Wouldn't be surprised either way at this point.

I understand that many people here are saying not to worry. My thoughts are that this is a possible bad sign from the Bjork camp. The Bruins probably told him that they could not insert him into the lineup over the current veterans and he did not want to go the ATO route in Providence ala McAvoy.

Not giving him an ELC at this point would be a risky move in my opinion. Hopefully Bjork and the team agreed that the World Championships would be a good place to gain some experience. Maybe they sign him before camp opens in September, but I doubt it.

If I am Bjork at this point, free agency is an option to play for whatever team he wants as well as the Olympics possibly. Sweeney has done a good job of signing 3 players over the past couple of weeks. But he could not bring the Bjork ship home for whatever reason. Silly to say there is no reason to worry here!

Over the last few weeks, the Bruins tried to convince Anders Bjork, Notre Dame’s high-scoring forward, not to return to South Bend for his senior year and instead sign an entry-level contact with the Black and Gold.

It’s inevitable Bjork turns pro, but it won’t be any time soon — certainly not in time for the 20-year-old to present the Bruins a roster option in this NHL postseason.

Bjork, who has collected 109 points in 115 games in three seasons with Notre Dame, agreed Monday to join Team USA for the IIHF World Championship. The tourney will be held in Paris and Cologne, Germany, from May 5-21.

Well, they lost Benning.

How many NCAA players had Nashville or Chicago lost before Vesey and Hayes?

Just because something's not common doesn't mean it can't happen. I don't know that he's not going to sign, but I don't like that he chose the Worlds over the Bruins and NHL playoffs (if that's official). And it does make me worry about what he's going to choose next.

The question was rhetorical. I knew they had lost Benning and stated that in my next post. Lost might be the wrong phrase to use with Benning because I'm not sure they even pursued him. Nephew of former front office member, drafted by Chiarelli after playing for his USHL team. Not really a surprise that he signed with EDM.

I'm not really getting those vibes from Bjork, but who knows what he's thinking? At the same time I'm not going to worry about it. The B's made him aware that they want him on the team, and they are still the only team that can burn a year off his ELC. If he decides to go in a different direction, not much they can do about that.

According to that schedule, Anders will be ready to suit up for the Bruins in the SC Finals. :)

Here is what I know from people close to the situation. The Blackhawks and Notre Dame have a very cozy relationship. The Hawks hold training camp in South Bend and Notre Dame was the 'host' of the Frozen Four this year.

The Blackhawks can't directly contact him but :biglaugh:

Now throw in the fact that he could go to the Olympics with the NHL not going. Also the Wild will be interested. The Bruins at this point might be better served by trading his rights like Nashville did with Vesey.

This is looking like a dead end for the Bruins.

Anders Bjork chooses Team USA over Bruins

The Blackhawks have always seemed like the oil in the ointment to me. I'm not going to jump into the worried camp just yet, but I would say playoffs in 2018 just became a bit more important. If we don't have a place and time for him to burn that first year of his ELC next spring it might make the likelihood of going all the way to August 15th a little higher.

If he did decide that he wants to start his career elsewhere, I wonder if he'd at least give the Bruins some trade options before the deadline next year. For example, if he's hell-bent on Chicago, it would make sense for the Bruins to get something for him and Chicago might be willing to pay if it means getting Bjork into their lineup for their own playoff run next spring and not having to win a bidding war in August.

I know we want to get the kid signed (for fear of him going FA) if he wants to test the market. I know we could use his help now (if he is really ready), but if he and the team are in agreement (?) For him to play team USA world championships, continue education, play Olympics, it could only help further his development.
Another thing to consider is it may not be a bad thing to stagger all the ELCs so as they don't all expire at the same time.

I'm going to be drinking free for awhile if Preds win series - a sweep is icing on the cake

Chicago are frauds and in my eyes the NY Giants of the NHL

They can't lose or have enough things go wrong

They act like they invented the game

Screw them

Good point, I look forward to his interviews as well.

Pierre said in the same interview that Bjork credited Boston organization and DC for making him a better player that he's a high character kid

Bodes well for Boston

What worries me about Chicago is that Bjork is exactly the type of player they absolutely need have, so they'll be a threat up until the minute he signs somewhere. They're so top-heavy with Kane/Toews/Hossa/Keith/Seabrook/Crawford and now Panarin that they've got to be desperate for ultra-cheap, seemingly NHL-ready talent like Bjork.

Flip side is if you're Bjork or any other FA, can you see yourself having a future there? There's no way that team can afford another contract over like 4 million a year, so what happens when his ELC is over? If they've got to move guys to make the money work, will they even be all that good of a team anymore when they're struggling now?

I still don't see any reason Bjork wouldn't be interested in signing with Boston, unless he's absolutely got his heart set on Chicago. At that point we'd just have to hope he lets us know soon enough to get something for him. I still think he gets his WC experience now (putting him in line for an Olympic roster spot), goes to ND to finish his degree and compete for a National Championship, maybe grabs an Olympic medal and then signs with us in the spring after a hell of year.

The Bjorks: Hockey Is the Family Business

Reading the article on Anders and his family makes one wonder if he is staying in school to finally fulfill his father's dream of the Irish winning the Final Four.

Fantastic! Another overbearing father. Better find out who his dad's favorite team is cuz I'm sure he'll want Anders to fulfill that one for him as well!
