I'm doing the Vesey thing I'm out

I'll wait till he signs

Very disappointing

He could be on second line tonight

Supposed to be an up front kid guess we will find out this summer at DC what he has to say

Blah

Makes me pissed I went out of my way to go watch him live if he stiffs Boston

We shall see how plays out

I'm done I learned from Vesey

I think they know at this point if he's going to sign with them. Not worried about it

You're not worried about it?

I have some left over Chicken parm in the fridge that I really want to have for dinner. Who knows though? Maybe I'll look in my fridge tonight and realize theres leftover Easter ham and I'll change my mind. Theres roughly 4 hours left between now and dinner for me to change my mind.

I don't know the kid beyond the 5-6 times ive seen him play on TV over the years, but giving a 21 year old kid another year to decide on his future makes me worried. Plenty can happen in a year.

I think that he's going to choose free agency. In a way, the World Championships will be a way for him to market himself to the rest of the league. I think if you go back to Justin Schultz and Vesey, they both told the team that drafted them that they want to play for them and changed their minds. See what Chicago wants for him.

Had a bad feeling when Anders didn't sign right away after Chicago. Made worse by the drag into the playoffs.

Things could be worse. At least we have DeBrusk, Cehlarik and Heinen to look forward to on the portside. Can always revisit Landy talks after the playoffs.

Maybe a negotiating ploy on his part? Maybe Sweeney didn't give all the bonuses he wanted? Maybe a change of heart by a 20 year old? Maybe an overbearing father in his ear? :D :D :D :D

Hoping they had good dialogue and he signs next April.

In all seriousness here's the likely answer

1. Go to Cap Friendly

2. Look up 1st round pick Charlie McAvoy contract

pay special attention to performance bonus

3. Look up 2nd round pick Jacob Forsbacka-Karlsson contract

Pay special attention to performance bonus

Notice JFK package is less than McAvoy

4. Look at UFA Jimmy Vesey contract

Pay special attention to performance bonus

Vesey could have made $3.775 M on reaching bonuses which exceeds McAvoy a top 15 pick and sophomore

Kind of absurd but this is what you got

Likely the agents of Bjork asked for more than JFK & McAvoy

Bad precedent

Bjork sees what happened with Vesey and knows that package exists.

Boston offered Vesey the max and I'm assuming will Bjork next year.

Maybe I'm off here but my view

Probably wants to play Worlds against Men then sign in the off season and start fresh next year? Ive been worried about him not signing for 12 months now, this news is a kick in the balls but lets wait and see.

I cant even look at Vesey anymore.

Most players would want to sign a pro contract and a chance to play in the playoffs over playing in the WHC, but I think this is about money and he wants the max bonuses. If that is the case, Sweeney should just bite the bullet and sign the kid, maybe try to work out an agreement so he at least gets what McAvoy got.

He can ask for the max bonuses.

Heck, Bruins can even give him the max bonuses.

Doesn't mean he'll get them - he has to earn them.

People are acting as if it's a given that a player gets his money if a team signs him to max bonuses.

Do we know how many players actually earn them? McDavid did this year. As did Matthews. Laine as well. Oh, and Jack Eichel did not.

Exactly, I dont think bonus' has anything to do with it. Maybe he doesnt want a baptism of fire in the playoffs

A Nashville draft pick, traded to Buffalo, that signs with the Rangers, really bothers you that much?

Certainly look like it. He had a golden opportunity to step in the top-6/PP rotation. Seems he wants something else.

What you actually think he was being offered a spot to step right into the Top 6?

I seriously doubt that was the case.
