What did you get? Something with Alienware?

This precise one. Basically everything I looked up said "This laptop is damn good and the biggest negative is that it's just now a good deal and not an m-fing steal. Essentially, this one used to be "mid-range plus" like bonkers value for the mid-range price. Now it's just good value for a kind of premium price. But when you get it 550 off... that makes it not bad at all.

I’ve got a ROG Zephyrus 14 as well and have nothing but great things to say about it.

Actually liked it so much that when I found another in the open box section a couple weeks later I bought it for my wife.

Whatcha get? I just bought a new laptop. Shipping tomorrow
I have a laptop buying addiction. I get a new one every couple of years. Some people collect shoes or guns, I collect Laptops and it's a real problem lol.

This is the pride and joy I bought last summer with a bonus check from work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09VQ3JWZ5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are a few feelings greater than unpackaging a new laptop from it's box.

That's interesting -- because I feel nothing but dread in that situation. I know there's going to be a struggle to get used to the ergonomics, the operating system (they just have to keep fiddling with them), and then I just wait until things start to go wrong -- usually after a couple of years.

My latest purchase was a fairly expensive HP -- after a couple of months the rubber strips on the bottom started falling off, just drooping flaccidly from the bottom until I got sick of them and pulled them off, and then there was a sticky residue left.

And now the thing loses connection to the wireless, and I have to shut it down and restart it, probably once a session. So I cannot identify with your purchasing addiction. If I could find a laptop that would run trouble-free forever I'd pay pretty good money for it.

My buying addiction is rum. Particularly the limited edition releases from Foursquare. Alas, I don't accumulate them, I consume them -- which is a shame, because if I'd buy and hold them, they appreciate in value really well.

And squarely within the category of first world problems, my glasses broke this evening, completely out of the blue. Snapped where the nose piece meets the left lens. And of course, the only other pair with any (very outdated) prescription whatsoever...

...is in my desk at work.

There's some super glue currently bonding, but this might get worse before it gets better.

Haaaa NEERRDDDD

Speaking of which, I need a new pair of glasses myself. Contacts are okay, but frankly, I just want to be lazy and plop the glasses on my face.

Been there. Finally got to the eye doctor last week and got my prescription updated, so now I just have to wait for the glasses to come in. Hopefully that's soon.

I just buy some cheep glasses online to have on hand in case I break a pair. They don't look the best but 20 bucks for an emergency fall back option has been a cheap insurance.

Or just, you know, don't need glasses in the first place...

You're seeing it's mainly skaters in here talking about needing to correct their vision.

As a goalie, I wake up every day seeing the world in beautiful clarity. This elite vision not only allows me to appreciate my surroundings, but also makes it impossible for me to miss any jokes that could fly over my head.

OK but you haven't seen me in my Timberlands.
Nice try! But you clearly swiped that from my boy Yoshi.

Looking to make my work space in the basement a little nicer and a little bigger. Struggling choosing which route to go.
1. 72 x 20 12 drawer mobile cart
2. 72 x 25 adjustable height table with a 6 (28x18x34.5) or 9 (46x18.25x37.125) drawer mobile cart underneath

Both would add more workspace and tool storage over what I already have. The table would allow me some space to sit and work but not sure if I would even do that.

Thoughts? Will that 5" matter on the depth of the table top?

In my experience, the table space will be appreciated at some point. I don't know what kind of projects you do, but when I'm monkeying with soldering and other fine motor skills, I value being able to sit.

Mostly archery related stuff. I do some soldering on my kids drones and such. Other small projects most likely.

Wonder if 24” is enough of a seating area. Probably.

Did my one and only NCAA bracket today. It's my "Mascot fight bracket". If the mascots or the representations thereof fought... Who wins? They move on.

My final four ends up being

West Virgina (Mountaineers - Mountain Men - aka Backwoods survival men)
Duke Blue Devils - Literal devils. just blue.
Northern Kentucky Norse - Literal god damn Vikings
Howard Bison - Mother f***in Bison. All 8 feet, 2000 pounds of themselves.

Couple assumptions I made, mascots w/ guns > mascots with swords unless said mascots are just like the Hoosiers of Indiana, which I assume to be just rando Indiana citizens. So if you have reason to be trained with the weaponry, Swords or other bladed weapons lose to guns. Only way West Virginia makes it past Alabama if we're being honest.

Also... Devils lose to either religious/pious men (Gaels, as being from the Gaelic countries of Ireland and Scotland or the Friars or to animals as the animals simply don't comprehend what they are.

Natural Disasters win 100% of time against animals as if a hurricane hits an animals home, that home is destroyed and if the animal is there, it's pretty much dead. While they can destroy homes, people survive hurricanes and cyclones.

Lastly, more militaristic humans take it against less so. So Spartans, Trojans, Norse, or like mountain men, cowboys, beat like Cajuns or Hoosiers.
