I'm not a fan of Star Wars or really anything in that Disney/Marvel umbrella, so look me right in my beautiful blue eyes and take me seriously when I say Andor was one of the best shows I've seen in the last few years.
Andor was amazing. I'm about to watch it a second time through. As a Star Wars fan who most other Star Wars fans can't relate to, Rogue One and Andor were the corner of the Star Wars universe I had been wanting to see since childhood. I'm the guy who watched Star Wars as a kid, saw the opening scenes where the Empire captures Tantive IV, and wanted to know the story of the Rebels on the ship who were gunned (lasered?) down by stormtroopers while trying to protect the Death Star plans. Who were they? Why were they in a struggle where they were so overmatched? How did they get there? Where was their dedication coming from? What was their story, man?

You can have your magical assholes, give me the non-Force users who fight against great odds without a cheat code.

Nostalgia removed, Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars film, and Andor topped it.

Yeah, I don't have any nostalgia for the franchise. But enough people I respect said Andor was good so I gave it a reluctant try.

And what I found was a show that had a well thought out narrative, gorgeous cinematography, and a banging musical score. Even if I remove all the story beats, just the look and sound of the show is worth it. Add in a brilliantly portrayed narrative of fascism at a granular level and, baby, you got yourself a stew.

The best thing I can say about it is that it's not just great for a Star Wars story. It's great by any standard.

I'm trepidatious about what they'll reveal in season 2, and I have my eye on one character being a secret space wizard (you immediately know who I'm talking about), but the showrunners have earned enough faith from me that I'll be anxiously awaiting the release date.

There's a couple characters I'm suspicious of. One of the things I'll be looking at more closely with a second watch.

Some spoilers here for people that want to go in fresh.

So Luthen is obviously either a Jedi or a red herring. He is introduced with a hooded robe. He has a walking stick handle that looks like a lightsaber and that telescopes like a lightsaber. And someone on Reddit said that crystal he gave to Cassian is actually the same kind that can be used to make... You guessed it, a lightsaber.

I really don't want him to be some secret Jedi pulling the strings. Maybe he's just an admirer as would be fitting for his line of work and we're being duped.

Oh and one last thing!

Did you see the very end credits scene? I had no idea that was coming. I was picking up my living room as the episode finished and then after a billion years of credits they showed what that device was they were working on in the prison. Not terribly surprising, it's for the Death Star.

Good stuff.

Yeah, Luthen is the obvious candidate. He also carries himself with a level of confidence that seems unusually high for a non-Jedi. Then again, he's in a very high-stakes position, and he didn't get there by playing it safe. Either way, I too hope he's not a Jedi. And I don't think he is, because that would just seem to go against the whole point of the story imo. But it wouldn't be the first time Star Wars has let me down lol.

Yes, that was an awesome little bow on top of that arc. There were a couple times it was bugging me that they seemed to just be making generic widgets to advance the story. Really glad that didn't turn out to just be a MacGuffin device. I also felt kind of dumb that I didn't figure out on my own it had something to do with the Death Star, because in hindsight.... duh.

I’m currently pulling out of the norovirus breakout in Metro Detroit. Man, this one was nasty.

Three consecutive days off work and I’m still not quite right. Little brother got his ass kicked by it too. His fiancé is made of sterner stuff than us. She got it, is sick, is doing well.

That's no joke. In 2013 it leveled half my extended family. Sickest I've ever been.

I get that, I have a Star Wars tattoo based on Wraith Squadron from the XWing book series.

Andor and Rogue One is Star Wars at its best.

Haha pretty sure we’ve had this convo before. Loved the X-wing series, even though they had to jam a Jedi in there…. Corran Horn was ok lol.

Lol think you’re right. I jump on any chance to deep talk Star Wars.

Corran I enjoyed, it was nice he wasn’t just a Jedi but had a background in CorSec and even came from an unorthodox Jedi branch.

It really was outstanding, I was very surprised, and i'm a pretty big fan. If you never gave Rogue One a chance, you may like it also, I think it's probably the best movie they have released since the original stuff.

Just started reading this series, on page 270 something of the first book, got the series for Christmas.

So...

Who is cheering for Kansas City?
Who's cheering for Philadelphia?

More than anything, I just want an entertaining game. Too many lopsided victories in these playoffs.

Nice, enjoy ‘em. I haven’t read them since they were being released in the mid/late-90s, so I’ve forgotten a lot, but they were good.

Is it possible to get a mod script or something that automatically deletes posts that have a sentence including both the words Yzerman and Tampa?

Or Lalonde and Tampa?

Building a PC for the first time. GPU just came in, so that's a relief. Most expensive part out of the way. Been wanting to build one since I was a kid but never had the money/money in the family, so excited to finally be able to do it.
