I'm doing something similar right now (flying out in 9 days!). Moving from Portland to the Netherlands. Taking a paycut as well but its an opportunity I didn't want to pass up for me or my family.
If you don't mind me asking, what are some of the biggest aspects that you think make it worth the financial difference?

Ask away!

Bear with me while I get my thoughts on this in order but the main thing for me was once I figured out COL, tax concerns, and life style choices it pretty much equaled out that while I'd be making less total I'd have about the same spending money available to me at the end of the day.

How I came to that conclusion:
-COL between Portland and Eindhoven is slightly cheaper, it added up pretty quickly in savings though when I started looking at utilities.

-Due to public transport which my company will pay for traveling to and from work + plus NL biking culture I'll only have the need for 1 car which will save me a bunch in gas and maintenance fees.

-The time off! 27 days off +13 floating days off to start. I don't get that stateside. While its not a money saving thing, its a real thing to consider.

-Medical costs are way more controlled in the EU overall so I'm saving quite a bit there.

Heres the link to one of the cost of living calculators I used.
COL Compare between Beaverton, OR and Eindhoven, NL

Thought of some more, salaries are generally lower in the EU so even if its a 20% pay cut for you now it very well could be a good/great income in Austria. I checked reddit a lot to see what kind of income levels you could comfortably live off us.

Plus travel between countries can be suppper cheap. Skyscanner.com allows you to search for cheapest destinations from your local airport.

Is that house of cards finally collapsing in on itself?

So it's looking like Ian will still be a Cat 2 hurricane when it's just west of Tampa. Any Floridians here that are boarding up their homes or leaving town for a few days?

Hurricanes are no joke. Any beautiful female Floridian refugees are welcome to stay at my place for the duration. We can chill on the couch and lament Tampa losing the cup to 'the team that shall not be named'.

I have two cases of beer and enough supplies to make about 50 old fashions. Hoping to get work off, Hurricane is going right through us.

I think you should sue Hurricane Ian. I assume he is going right through you without your consent

I've learned that the people who stay and ride out the hurricanes are usually the ones best prepared to handle them. Like, they know the Canes are comin.

Still praying that it doesn't slam like Katrina did. Some of the shit I saw in the 9th Ward when I went down on Spring Break to help them clean up (yeah, shit was turbof***ed) would show that no matter how prepared people lost a lot.

So, prayin for ya Konnan.

Apparently this guy was sneaking drinks off of other people's table. We have a strict policy not to overserve here at Chili's. We took a copy of his driver's license and he is no longer welcome at any Chili's restaurant.

Hurricane Ian took a hard right a few hours before making landfall and ended up 25-30 miles south of me. Lost power for 2.5 days which got me off work those days (work from home). Underestimated how much beer I could drink, had to dive into my whiskey cabinet.

Get this man some Two-Hearted, STAT!
Amazingly enough… two hearted? Can’t do it. Tried several times. For the life of me can’t see why people love it so much.

Everyone’s tastes are different I guess. Because I love me a good Gosé. People who love two hearted, god bless ya, I just cant
