Isn't it a trip to see Detroit-style as a sort of trendy new thing? We've got a handful of places popping up around D.C.

It's awesome, but as a transplant it's never something I expected to see branch out the way it has started to.

It totally is. Detroit pizza was just pizza to me growing up. My dad and I would go to papa Romano’s on 16 and gratiot to order carry out then go to blockbuster to find a movie on Friday nights. Square pizza has only been a thing outside of Michigan as ‘Detroit style’ for about 6 years now.

Sure it was Blockbuster and not Family Video?

A month ago, Jets Pizza broke my heart. They discontinued the BLT pizza, if you've ever had it, you know how heavenly that style was. Now I am open to selecting a new favorite pizza.

For the record, I've been making Detroit-style here in Chicago for about 10 years, so I was ahead of the curve lol. Sometimes I just quietly make it at home, and sometimes to get under the skin of my Chicago friends who believe nothing can touch Chicago pizza (LOL). I've been telling them and showing them that Detroit-style is superior for years. None of them even knew "Detroit-style" was even a thing back in the day of course. They're also too full of pride to concede. One weird thing about Chicagoans is they seriously suffer from an innate inferiority complex. They love to hate other big cities. New York and LA, but especially Detroit of course.

How do you NOT joke about how Chicago pizza is lasagna? I mean, it's not true, but it's some good trolling.

Has anyone had a PCR test for travel recently? If so, how long did the results take?

I've known people that get results in less than a day but that's all going to depend on your local situation. 72 hours is considered the max you'd need to wait.

The 72 hour wait is what I am afraid of. Have a feeling I am going to get boned on a leg of my trip next month. Will hope for the best. Good news I can cancel lodging on short notice but I will be out the cost of a flight and concert ticket.

I haven't heard of anyone having it take that long, that's more the maximum they post in terms of "just in case." But if you're genuinely worried about it, will the places you need accept a rapid test? Those are done in the same day. Usually within hours.

Negative. I am going to Milan and then Belgrade in May. Getting into Serbia is the problem. They only accept rapid testing results conducted in the US or Slovenia and the negative result must be within 48 hours or less of entry (a time frame I cannot meet). They will accept proof of COVID recovery (which I don't have as I have not had COVID) or proof of vaccination for certain nations upon which they have a reciprocity agreement for COVID vaccination records. US is not among them.

I have witnessed documented encounters of people driving into Serbia and a verbal confirmation of vaccination status was accepted but I will be flying and assume more by-the-book bureaucracy there. Too much of a risk regardless as a 10 day quarantine would make going a moot point and would cause complications getting back to Milan and then back home.

Holding out for quick results or policy changes by May 22. Will have to amend my itinerary in Italia to accommodate scheduling a PCR. My bad for assuming all would be fine with a vaccination card.

Ah, when dealing with this in other countries I have no idea. That's definitely where things could get complicated for you.

Sounds pretty stressful overall if you're on a tight schedule. I can see why you're asking around. Sorry I've been zero help but I hope you find a good solution and have a fun and safe travel experience! Those are some beautiful places on your itinerary.

THG with a shout-out to Ken and Mick for anyone who likes this kind of thing.

Yeah I watched that too. But when he decided to be too nice on ESPN+/TNT I just thought, "Oh man..." Because it's been a very rough firsr year for that broadcast.

Does anyone have any tips for quitting nicotine? I've never tried to quit before, and I use Siberia snus and go through a breeze pro every other day. I'm trying to ween off by only giving myself 3 medium puffs of the breeze an hour, but holy hell, I feel so sick and it's only day one. Nearly dripping sweat and having constant nausea. Regardless of how awful it is, im putting my foot down and quitting this shit. Feeling powerless over anything is an awful feeling.
Sorry I'm late. Outside of what everyone else has said, here are 2 actions that helped me:
1) Pick a day to quit and start in the morning
2) No nicotine the 1st hour you wake up - ever

I cut cigs by using patches and gum, then tapering back. It took 4-6 weeks

Shannon is a diplomatic man. Not sure he has ever buried anyone deserved or not but the ESPN crew deserves a good burying. Horrible. Some of the worst pro sports broadcasting I have seen.

I had a relative treat me to an expensive, authentic Chicago deep dish and it felt like somebody f***ed up a pie.
Jason Biggs?

E: trying to remember the first movie again, I only recall Jason Biggs f***ing the pie, Alyson Hannigan sticking a flute in her hoohah, and just the wonder that was Shannon Elizabeth.
