You're reaching.

Using that logic every unsigned RFA could want out. While possible, it's very unlikely. RFA's aren't signed by this time all the time.

The situations are completely different. Trouba wants a certain role on the Jets, and he can't have it because of other roster players. It's the complete opposite for Lindholm. With Lindholm, there's a big range for someone in his situation. There's Ekblad, than there's Jones. There's been nothing to suggest that he wants out. Him not being signed isn't that big of a flag. It's actually fairly common. See Johnny G, Risto, etc as examples for this year alone.

I am not reaching at anything. You commented that the ducks have the cap space to sign both RFA's so if that is the case why have they not signed? Just the fact they have not signed indicated that there is an issue of significance that must be considered. I guess we will see if they are signed before the season starts.

Do yourself a favor. Go back and look up how many RFAs aren't signed by this point in the season. Than go look at how many were moved. This is not uncommon, even when the team has cap space.

The significance is where he should slot in due to the contract Florida gave Ekblad. 5 million - 7+ million is a big range.

Yes, I think assuming that "he may want to be traded" because he isn't signed is reaching. I know you said it may be improbable, but you're implying that it very well could be that he wants out. That's a reach because there's been much, much more to suggest it's due to numbers, not which team.

Buffalo has the cap for Risto, why isn't he signed? Does that mean he wants out? No. Not all RFA situations are the same.

Risto has one of the most ridiculous negotiating positions in the league. Buffalo has no way of replacing him neither now nor in the future from what they have. Risto can pretty much ask for whatever he wants. Buffalo can't let him go.

Yes there is a chance that he does. These players can make millions of dollars per year in countries where most make closer to 30,000. If they are not signed by the start of the season, I suspect that it is because they want out and are trying to force a trade. I am not saying that all RFA want trades; however, the chances the RFA wants one increase significantly when you get to training camp and the season and they have not been signed. Unfortunately, we may never know if he wants a trade or not.

If he does want a trade, Winnipeg and the Ducks may make a deal; however, I still put the chances he wants out at around 5%

They are not moved because they realize that they cannot usually force management to do it and the fact they will give up money if they do not play is a big motivating factor to sign a contract and live with it. Keep you head in the sand but the signs indicate that the current RFA who have not signed are not happy with something the club has to offer and when that happens, they will think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. You can continue to believe it is just a negotiation and that is fine, but there is a lot more to it than you seem to want to believe.

Keep my head in the sand? Sorry bud, the one reaching is the one that's off, and that's you. Using your logic, every current RFA wants out. Using your logic, every former RFA not signed at this time wants out. OR, maybe it's just part of the negotiation process? There could be something more, but I'm definitely not the one reaching here. Your logic is flawed. If this was something that was rare, than maybe your argument would be more valid, but as you can see by there being several more RFAs still not signed this year, it's fairly common. Keep reaching though. I won't stop you.

Well out of the eight remaining RFAs (ignoring the three signed to AHL contracts) still unsigned we now have two (25%) that have publicly asked for a trade. So I wonder if there are any more that want a trade but have not asked for it publically yet....

Edit I would not be surprised that there are at least two more that have asked for a trade; however, they will not (or likely will not) go public with he request.

Excuse me while I bury my head in the sand some more.
