He's a unicorn though, 1 of 1 in todays league.

And I'm not surprised teams like Columbus/Anaheim were bidding for him given his leadership + experience.

I don't know the waiver order but New York would've just waived him if he was a negative asset & he would've been picked up quickly.

He can be a unicorn, but that still doesn't change the fact that he's been a bottom pairing defenseman the past few years. He's young enough that he can bounce back, but now we have a large sample size suggesting that's what he is at this point

The Rangers wanted Trouba gone so badly they literally gave him away for nothing LOL
Urho Vaakanainen is on IR for how long isn’t known.

Urho is an RFA at seasons end, it remains to be seen if Urho would be qualified if he doesn’t play due to injury.

A 4th is something during the second day of the entry draft.

After Leo Carlsson got pushed into the net and Zegras Slewfooted . This needed to happen. Trouba on the team, opposing teams goons will think twice about going after the Ducks kids.

He just has to hit the crap out of everyone.
Zegras being slew footed is a stretch and I doubt there is anyone more disappointed then me he is hurt.

His back up plan was Fabbri, who has been fine.

This trade isn't half as bad as people are making it out to be, people just like to make noise online to make themselves feel important. My guess is that he is fine for a year and then gone without any last impact, negative or positive.

"It doesn't matter that this is a bad move because we plan to suck anyway"

This is what, year 7 of rebuilding?

Making +value moves is how you get out of the dumpster. Roster spots and time on ice and cap space matters.

How so?

Just traded their Captain for absolutely nothing

Whatever prime Panarin has left he’ll never win the Cup

They traded a guy they didn't want anymore and don't have to pay his cap hit. That's a win 100% for Drury.

How this affects the locker room is a different story but it's clear they don't really care. Vegas has shown that you can be a dick and get results in today's NHL.

Whatever has been happening in New York is definitely not a win

That roster is build to win now and are on a very short window

But I guess getting rid of a captain equals to same as winning the Cup

Considering that is not remotely what I was suggesting, there's no point arguing with somebody who completely lacks reading comprehension
