Then we probably aren't in it.Hope you’re not serious. He’s no longer the Risto from 2-3 years ago. He’s turned into a very solid dman, who can handle the minutes playing with either Edvinsson or Seider. Probably Edvinsson. He’d help them a lot 5 on 5. He wouldn’t be cheap either.
Nah there's been no indication transactions wise that Yzerman will trade picks or upper end prospects for 33 year olds.Do you care to address the actual post instead of nitpicking the mere mention of a player at the end?
Thanks for making my point. Then we probably aren't in it.

Maybe the Canucks want some of that action.
There comes a point where you have to compete, he has shown in the past he's willing to make a splash. Clearing 3.6 mil for this season only, days before the deadline tells me he's ready to make a significant move if it presents itself.
If the Schenns are indeed available, I could see Detroit going in that direction.
10.8M for deadline cap space.
- Can add a forward (center)
- Can add a defenceman
Has to mean Gibson is gone right?
Detroit is in a position to make the playoffs and I didn't mention rentals. He has made plenty of big moves over the years, dishing out significant assets to do so. His approach with Detroit has been more conservative than it was with TB, but they now have a deep pool of picks and prospects to deal from if necessary. This stuff about his "MO" is irrelevant, eventually you have to give to get. He is not opposed to this at all.Yzerman's MO has been to not trade anything of value for pieces who aren't going to be in the organization for awhile.
Debrincat is the one big move he's really made on the trade market where he had to give anything significant.

Husso comes off the books after this season anyway, he isn't just clearing cap days before the deadline for no reason. Obviously, Detroit is prepared to take on salary right now if the deal/s present itself.
Nothing but assume he’s coming if he’s able to. Detroit is really good at NOT even commenting on Swedish kids until after their season finishes. They don’t pry. But I assume he’s coming as soon as he can. MBN to GR too.I don’t see him with seider since they are both RH shots. Prefer a LH D that way chiarot could move down to 3rd pair keeping Ed-Jo together. Still he would be a solid addition for now and help going into next year to shelter ASP a little or to by time if ASP isn’t quite ready even though I think he is more than ready.
I know you have some sources inside the organization have you heard anything about ASP coming this year after his season?
His recent actions suggest he is prepared to take on a significant player/contract, and to do that you have to deal something of value. Detroit is in a much better position these days to deal from their depth of prospects or full slate of picks if need be. He's not going to pass up a deal because of some made up golden rule, the guy will pull the trigger to help his team. He's not afraid to move regular roster players mid-season either, so I could see Veleno and maybe someone else being shipped out too.Which time, outside Debrincat, has he done that with Detroit?
Detroit is not in the position or the quality of team Tampa was when Yzerman was making Miller/McDonagh type moves.

That's very possible but speaking for myself I haven't been talking rentals. When he makes big trades, they tend to include players with term so that's more what I'd expect if Detroit makes a big move here.I don't doubt that he'd make a deal to add somebody who will be here for the long haul.
It's rentals that I don't see happening.

And again, it does look like he is preparing to add. Clearing out millions in cap just before deadline says something. Who knows whether or not it will materialize but the signs are there.
They're paying like $1.2M in salary, not $4M. Caphit is not salary. Either case, Ducks have plenty of cap room anyway. Not sure what Anaheim is doing. They could have likely offered up future considerations for Jack Campbell and saved near 4 mil in salary.
We had an extra first when we made that move. If we had extra assets that valuable I can see it. Cap space alone doesn't mean anything to Yzerman. This obsession with "we have cap space, we HAVE to use it is so nonsensical". If your on the cusp a cup sure. On the cusp of a playoff wildcard? Lol nope. Not how he's gonna do business. Can't see it. He will give up exactly what he wants to give up or just moves on.Yzerman's MO has been to not trade anything of value for pieces who aren't going to be in the organization for awhile.

They want their AHL team to do well to get prospects some experience.
It's clearly Verbeek repaying some favor to Yzerman. Simple as that. Wings clear cap space to make a move before they have to dip into LTIR with Copp being out. Anaheim has plenty of extra cap and Verbeek knows quite well what Husso is at this point.I think posters are reading too much into this trade. Husso is not an nhl goalie and the two guys playing right now while Gibby is out. Not saying that Gibby aint about to get traded but the guys they have are better then Husso. This is depth for the AHL. Posters talk about money, but we are in the last 1/4 of the season and Husso does not have much money left and ducks got space. Also, they really needed help on the farm
