I don’t see him with seider since they are both RH shots. Prefer a LH D that way chiarot could move down to 3rd pair keeping Ed-Jo together. Still he would be a solid addition for now and help going into next year to shelter ASP a little or to by time if ASP isn’t quite ready even though I think he is more than ready.
I know you have some sources inside the organization have you heard anything about ASP coming this year after his season?
Nothing but assume he’s coming if he’s able to. Detroit is really good at NOT even commenting on Swedish kids until after their season finishes. They don’t pry. But I assume he’s coming as soon as he can. MBN to GR too.
With Copp out for the year now, that gives them even more cap space. Everything’s on the table. Including retaining for picks on deadline day, if they can’t do what they want.
The McCann stuff is probably legit. The Schenn stuff is also probably legit knowing the relationship between the teams. I know the Byrum stuff was very, very real, but the Cozens stuff is still more media driven. I’m told the DET/BUF talk was always centered around Byrum. If it ever moved to Cozens, who knows. I’ve heard the Ristolainen speculation for about a month now, added to speculation about Drysdale. Detroit’s more defensive oriented scouts have watched Philly more than any other team. I was told back in December that was about Drysdale, but now I’ve heard it’s about either. That Risto has grown on them. Mittlestadt should scare DET fans some, because Yzerman was in on him last year, and the DET scouts have always liked him. Even the beginning of this year. So Colorado watching GR more than once recently is something to keep an eye on. I could absolutely see that happening for those reasons. If they get Mittlestadt though, they’ll have to make a second move for a defensive forward.
Losing Copp is gonna hurt a lot. All those anti-Copp folks are going to see what life without him looks like now, unkess Compher really steps into that role. Copp’s the player a coach just looks at and he knows what to go do. The glue player. So you hope whoever they do bring in, can pick up some of those defensive assignments. Hopefully Rasmussen isn’t out long too because he’s the 2nd player that does all the dirty work. Losing both, you get the results they just got over the weekend. Blowing 2 goal leads late in back to back games.
Think Berggren might finally be on his way out too btw. Heard he’s being shopped for someone who can help them 5 on 5 more.
Things are getting very real. Is he gonna make a core move or punt with more filler type players? Guess we’ll find out, but they will be active. Likely sooner than the deadline.
