I'm loving the way this US team plays. I low-key hate the jerseys, though. Especially juxtaposed against the timeless classic of Sweden. It's like the US tried so hard to be "snazzy" and have "pop," that it ended up looking like something straight out of 1990. Like Zubaz pants. =P

Germany has the same design but with better colors . I simply hate navy jerseys

I know it's just me being greedy, but I would just love Matt Beniers to end up on this team. Love his game.

Rangers are one of the teams that are particularly high on him.

Just about everyone has a favorable opinion of him. The only question that gets mentioned is just how high the offensive ceiling is.

I had a friend out west capture it pretty well - if Beniers had Johnson’s natural offensive talent, to go with the traits he already possesses, he’d be a front runner for the top pick.

This tourney has been awful I mean just awful. Amazed at the talent gap this year between Canada/US and everyone else.

Russia should be better and you could put them in that class but they’ve been up and down

Sweden I thought Raymond and Holtz would carry this team. These two look lost without Henriksson.

very disappointed

Yeah this tournament has basically been the US, Canada and Stutzle with special guest appearances by the Czech's beating Russia, Byfield beating up the Swiss and Mukhamadullin doing something stupid.

Covid had a pretty big impact but by and large this tourney hasn’t been much different than what you get at group stage in any year. It’s all about elimination rounds.

Love the Muk bashing. I frequent a football site and the debbie fans there are insufferably positive that he is the second coming.

I’ll tell you a couple other things.

caufield Turcotte and Kaliyev are three of the most overrated US players in USNDP history IMO.

of the three turcotte looks like he can be a SOLID middle 6 center. But I say that meaning I think he def plays but no where near the hype he gets. Nowhere does he ever put up the production or skill that he’s so generously hyped to have.

caufield and Kaliyev perimeter shooters. They might bust entirely frankly. Wouldn’t surprise me.

I’d take berard over both of them and certainly over brisson who shows me nothing. Another shooter and that’s about it.

how can you say that? The games are generally very fun. A lot of talent on Sweden Finland always, Germany is always difficult to play the Suiss usually put a competitive team out there the Czechs a few years ago had a really good team. This is one of if not the worst in recent memory

I also just heard for the first time ever Starman with the horrific “Oswald” reference to apparently a “headshot” from a puck that hit the goalie in the mask. Seriously Dave? Lol

They need to justify the overdraft. He is essentially their McIlrath.

It's hilarious, some of them called a prospect twitter guy a hater because he always cuts clips of him making mistakes.

It's like, if he didn't make so many mistakes, these clips wouldn't exist

Don’t know what to tell you. My expectations are always low for the group stage.

Still thoroughly enjoyed watching USA, Canada and Russia, heroics by undermanned Germans who are taking the reign of the “7th team”. If I had to note something I’d say that Askarov for Team Russia and Swedish defense as a group so far underwhelmed from expectations view point.

Agree on Turcotte, Caufield i'm not ready to close the book on but I see where you are coming from, and Kaliyev.... unless he takes a GIANT leap on his skating I just don't see how he could ever compete in the NHL.

I sincerely have to put some real thought into how good Karl Henriksson is now. I mean that. These two kids Raymond and Holtz just terrorized them WJC last year. I expected them to dominate this year. They BOTH always credit Henriksson as the reason they have success as a line. It’s very obvious they miss him badly.
